so I took my car to firestone this morning to figure out why i kept hearing what sounded like a out of round wheel in the back right corner of my car. It turned out to be something with the differential making a weird noise and the axle being bent or something. The guy pulled it up on the lift and put it in drive to show me what was happening. The whole axle and wheel wobble like crazy. Its really retarded.

Has anyone ever had something like this happen? Or can anyone tell me how easy/hard it is to change out the axle?

I should be hearing back from firestone any minute with a quote. :X

It's easy as sh*t to change the axle. You can do it yourself. As long as you have a socket big enough for the axle nut.Hopefully that's all it is. How did you bend your damn axle to begin with? You'd think that would take enough force for you to know when it happened.

Takes maybe 15 minutes to get this far:

Then pull the axle straight out of the diff. Slide new one in, and reassemble.

Did you bend the axle or is the CV joint bad? If you grab it and can move it then your joint is either bad or you have slop in your diff somehow. Either way you're pulling your axle shaft(s) out.

It's not to hard to do it as long as the splines in the hub are not rusted in place.

Just got a quote, 4400 and change to fix it! lmao. I need a new subframe and control arm. All because I hit a parking curb. Lets see what my insurance company says about this.
thanks for the pic btw

Holy mother lover! Well I guess that could do it. Good luck.

WOW! How much of that is installation costs?

My ex-wifes rear end used to shake pretty good too ;)

Haha, I bet she cost you a lot more than 4400. ;)

Also, I actually RAN OVER a parking curb. Though I was in reverse, but was in drive and went right over it. When the back wheels went over the rear end hit super hard.

I have to go take it to a certified shop today for the insurance adjuster to take a look. Wish me luck.

Hell no, separate everything! Not only that but I got paid after the divorce for emotional distress or whatever! B!tch got knocked up while I was in Iraq and kept it! Sorry, but I didnt pay for sh!t after I heard that.. Anywho, LVC knows my whole life story now.. I ran over a telephone pole that was laying on the ground and got my front end off the ground ontop of it, was at night in the middle of a parking spot at a dragstrip of all places, who wouldve knew??

You guys crack me up sometimes, it's great. Running over and curb and wife cheating/divorce not so great. At least you didn't get the short end of that stick.

Sorry to hear that. I see it alot. atleast you were senceable enough to keep everything seperate.

well if insurance don't cover, then definately find used, go to car-part.com they may not show the actual parts you need, but find a yard with a ls and call them directly, you can buy running ls's off of ebay for 3-4$ and less with a bad engine.
