thought i would share some pics of my pinto. its a 1973 has a 2.3l swap came with a 2.0l. its a real motor swap as the mounts and every thing is different. its got all the Esslinger goody's and runs really good for a N/A 4 baggier. red line is 10,000 rpm. i know there is some ford lovers on the site that might like it.

Hooray for Pintos

I've always been a Pinto fan---owned at least one all the time since my first '72. My second '72, bought new, was probably the most modified. Put in a full 2X3 frame, chopped the top 4" and installed a full 'cage, and then put in a 460/C-6 mounted behind the original firewall. Moved the seats back to set in the back seat footspace. All-up weight was 2260 with 1140 on the back wheels. Hood, fenders, doors and rear quarters were 'glas. Used a transverse fibreglas leaf-spring front suspension designed for short track racing and a Versailles 9"/four link rear end on Koni double-adjustable coil-overs.

Built as a project for Super Ford Magazine starting in 1980. Called the series 'STREET PRObe.'

Nice!! i had a 79 with the 2.3l and 4 speed, took off muffler and just had straight pipe with European tips on it. Sounded great cruising through N. Carolina moonshine back roads. It was clean and all stock and bought for $250.00 in 1985. Took on a 68 nova after school where everyone would line up an you raced whomever was paired up with you and beat it in a mile run, the guy was P'd off when he found out it was a 4 cylinder, fast good little car with great gas mileage.

Nice. Engine bay looks nice and clean.

Awesome. I so want one, I'll v-8 it though but that 10k redline sounds like fun. I'm a big StangII guy the Pintos offspring. Heres my latest toy.

trans is a c3 witch sucks because i cant get a good converter for it. the cam doesn't come on tell 5,000 and it currently will stall to 1,700. it doesn't come out of the hole to good. but at about 4,500 it starts putting you in the seat pretty hard. last attempt at the 1/4 mile she ran a best of 14.89. the rear end is a ford 8". last time at the track it had 4.11 gears it now has 5.43 gears. with the 4:11's it would fall of the cam when it shifted but with the 5:43's she still not quick out of the hole but she stays on the cam with both shifts. i want to get a milder cam before taking it back to the track. im looking at one that's good for 2,800-7,600. i think i can get her into the 13's. one day i would also like to put a c4 in her so i can get a good converter.

As soon as I saw this thread I knew you would be posting on here since our discussion at the track on how you what one

Nice pinto, I agree v8 would be nice but a 2.3 wound up to 10k sounds fun too

Did they sell a Pinto in the U.S. with a Cosworth engine, or did they just build a cosworth pinto engine and put it in an Escort?

i have never head of one.

this is my dads car. 1971 pinto with a 302. its best 1/4 mile is a 11.48. the car started to tweak got a ripple in the c pillar and one in the roof running 90 degrees from the c pillar. he backed it off a little and it runs fairly consistent in the 11.60 range.
