So the 26th I picked up a new car to both drive this winter, and possibly to become my permanent work car. The gas mileage my truck was not good at all so I bought this. The car is a 90 Coupe Deville, FWD V8 (sucks to work on). It does pretty good in the snow and gets decent gas mileage. I bought it from the orig owner, and it has only 96k mi on it. It has a few bumps and bruises, but that is to be expected with an elderly driver (90's). I got a HECK of a deal on it, and have just finished giving it a good clay bar, wax, interior cleaning, and most importantly a much needed tune up. So far no problems. I'm real happy with it. I would have rather had a Mark VIII as a winter car, but I never could have a found a mark in as good of shape and especially the price I paid for this.

Enjoy the pics.

Actually I drove my 95 Mark in the snow for 4 years and never really had a problem. My truck did fine until i put some meaty tires on it. We really dont get snow that often around here, but when we do we usually get dumped on.

I had an Eldorado years ago and it taught me to pretty much hate FWD in the snow :(

Me to
I have never had a fwd car in the winter.Every time I drive one in the
snow I hate it. I went for a parts run last week in my mother-in-law's
tiburon it just goes stright all of the time. Have to use the E-break to turn.

It took me 30 minutes to get out of my driveway last time it snowed up here. My mothers century, out on the first shot. I've gotta say that the mark sucks for winter driving. Once it gets moving its not hard to handle, but I can never seem to get moving. I can't come to a stop before I turn onto my street, its iced up so bad its impossible for me to move.

roads were iced over here last monday and the GF had no problem driving my mark to work.

granted she has 3 years of auto-x under her belt and handles the cobra no problem.

Last time it snowed a decent amount here my Mark VIII was spinning the tires idling in gear. I almost died when I had to take the TBird SC (300+RW ft.lbs.) on its 275 series tires in the snow, and that was only an inch or two... I don't know how you northern people do it.

The best car I had in the snow was my SVX. Ran circles around any car I ever drove in the snow or ice. I do have to admit my Mark SUCKED even with M/S tires on it last year when we had a bad snow storm. My boss called me to tell me to take off at 12 cause the snow was only gonna get worse and it took me forever to get up the ramp to Rt78!

Oh and the one FWD car that I had that was actually very good in the snow was a 86' CRX Si believe it or not

Hey I got he Honda for $150 to commute and that lil Rice Cake got me 36mpg :D

The SVX got given to me instead of paying me the last $10G my old man owed me for loaning him the money. Hated the fact that it was an Automatic but that was half it's charm in the snow ;)

With FWD once you are out of control you might as well let go and kiss your ass good bye, with RWD it's predictable and you can regain control better. plus sideway's is fun, winter or summer.

I drive an 87 buick centry and I hate it, I need a winter mark again. I only drive it because Its POS and I'm not afraid to smash it into a snow bank.

only owned 1 fwd car, '00 mazda protege, not bad car, but unpredictable as hell in snow. bought it new, and sold it 6 months later, and took it in the shorts!!

I love it when people think the FWD is the end all be all for Winter Driving. Then you see the sideways spin marks in the snow from there front tires on a crowned road to a ditch

From my experience It doesnt matter if your driving a FWD, RWD, or 4WD. If you dont know how to drive in the snow, sooner or later you will be in the ditch, or worse.
