Just picked it up off EBAY. 96' 4.6 out of a Mark VIII that was tested before removal and had 92k on the clock. My car is pushing 187k and the timing chains are making plenty of noise on startup. Then the IMRC's started throwing codes along with a broken motor mount. So it's engine swap time :D

Why not get yourself some DOHC "C" heads (tumbleport), Mach 1 intake and give her some new pistons/rings... maybe forged rods...

Then have some real fun with your Mark!!!

Close to what I wanna do in the end. I have built 8 MOD engines so far so I have access to the block spreader and complete Manley Rod sets and plenty of other parts. My main thing however will be I need to watch what I do since it's an OBDII car and it will have to pass inspection in the end here in NJ.

oh... damn that sucks! Kind of puts a damper on your fun!!!

Not all that much, just have to pick parts carefully. Logan Motorsports posted about making a B series intake if they could get enough pre orders. Problem is it would have to stick through the hood on a Mark VIII cause there's no room under there:mad:

hmmm... that doesn't sound cool. How much extra room do you need? Too much to just fab a low crowl induction hood?

This is the computer mock up of what they are talking about making. Since they are making a performance intake it is not made to fit into the block galley. So basically it would almost be like a tunnel ram setup

Would be interesting looking sticking out of the hood?

Last time I got inspected, they hooked me up to the OBDII scanner and moved on. As long as you can get the codes cleared you should be fine.

Yeah but if you remove the IMRC's and put on a different manifold how are you going to keep the code from showing up? If the check engine light is on you fail period.

wow... yeah, no small crowl induction hood would clear that thing!!!

Shouldn't a tuner be able to set the ECU so it no longer sees the IMRC's?

Good question? I don't know if something on a OBDII car like that could be shut off? If it is I well then inspection here I come :shifty:

Funny you should say. I'm paying Keith and the gang over there a visit next week on my way back from a corn-belt-country ethanol plant (home of 104 octane E85 race @ $2.65/gallon/24 psi street daily driver fuel ) to talk about my custom intake and fuel system. Heck, I heard if you make one, a guy might as well make a couple of extra ones for good measure,:shifty:though I doubt there'd be any interest in that around here.

Yeah on the Modular web blog a bunch of early Cobra owners where saying they would by it if it's made. Problem for me would be the hood clearance first off then the obvious other things.

I wish I could get E85 here in NJ but closest I was able to find is quite a few hours drive into PA to get it :(

Don't worry about the height. I talked to Keith at length about it and we'll work something out.

I have E85 less than 2 miles away.:D I just hope they stop making it from corn. What a stupid-ass idea. Ya, let's burn up all our food supplies so we can spend $8.00 for a gallon of milk and $4.00 for a dozen eggs.
