My new [old] car

really?

how involved is the speed limited, is it possible to disable or disconnect the sensor without a tune.

I guess im going to have to get used to all the electrical gizmos, welcome to a car from the recent decades i guess.

My understanding is that you have to get either a chip or a tune to take the speed limiter off. Mark VIII's are all governed at 125-130, depending on the factory gears you have. 4.10's lower that governed speed.

Honestly i didnt want a mint car, i would be more likley to favor it over my stang and well... thats just not allowed.

LOL

It's probably gonna happen anyways :D

You won't notice it until you drive the mark for a few days straight and then get in the stang.. lol then you'll be like.. yeah, gonna drive the mark tomorrow! :p I think quite a few of us have been there!

Saw that ad, too. Looked like a good deal for a daily driver. I drove a cobra and a mark when i was looking for my first fast ford. Ended up liking all the options AND speed. :D

You aren't joking. When I would drive my GT for more than 30 miles at a time I would get out with a sore back. Fox seats suck. The Mark I can go hundred plus miles and feel great.

Ehh, theres still one seat i have that i have yet to ahve any car match.

40 years of breaking it in does that!

haha i owe alot to my stang, learned how to drive stick, deal with cops, my first two relationships, and many many miles of freedom. Its the most comfortable place in the world to me, but she deserves a break, and some new parts.

Any follow ups on this chip thing, any mail order ones that will suffice? i can live with 80 for a while, but itll annoy me.
For the first year the car will probably only get at most gears, maybe pullies, exhaust, jmod, tranny cooler, next year maybe a stall and cobra intake (if i decide not to KB it down the road)

Do a search on how many members started out claiming they were just going to do "minor mods" then look at where they are now.

I definitely miss my Stang, had a lot of memories in that car...good and bad.

haha im a college boy, school full time, work full time. moneys tight and my fox will be parked at me g.f's parents house, makes me uncomfortable, so i will be hasty to get it from shop to shop. (No one in my family will store it, and i rent and will have two cars on the road as it is)

Ill drive my Cobra any day over my Mark... ask everyone that went to the beach party last year put almost 3000 miles on it in a week... i like the hand shaker and that is something that almost every mark does not have... except for a few like Mikes... congrats on the new mark and have fun with the stang...

Ive noticed a lot of people mention upgrading to the 255 pumps, and was wondering why so quickly, even with bolt ons the stock pump should keep up...shouldn't it? and with the bigger pump wouldn't i need better psi regulators?

Since I don't think anyone's covered it for you... stock pumps in these things suck ass. It's not necessarily that they can't keep up, it's that they die. It's more of an insurance that you won't be stranded on the side of the road than it is to support power...

what modifications would i need to get a 255, is it just the standard mustang intank pump? also speaking of which, wheres the fuel filters on these cars, its usually one of the things i change when i buy a car.

Its not hard to get it to fit.
I wish we took pics when we did mine.
You need a die grinder or a dermal to modify the sock that fits on the bottom of the pump, and chamfer the top of the basket so the Walbro fits in correctly, I think a wire needs to be switched too....I don't remember, I was pulling the rear when Brandon was wiring it.

good to know. ill look more into that when the time comes.
speaking of which, whats the capacity on these tanks?

also, will the LMS chip remove the VSS controls/governor? and how hard is it to install? Never dealt with chips/tuners before and not in the position to spend money on a dyno tune/chip
