Id like to know what you guys think about my latest project in mind. A Gen 2 3.9 and 5R55S into a Foxbody Mustang with cams, ITB's(maybe), longtubes, and a 3700rpm stall with slicks. Ran with some kind of aftermarket ECU. Cool, dumb, retarded, waste of money, different, whatd you got.
 
Because I like being different and they make more power than bolt on 5.0's. It would be stripped down completely, stalled + crazy gears.
 
So you want to put an ls engine and transmission into a fox body instead of its 5.0 engine? I get the engine part for the mustang but you wont an driving an ls anymore.
 
Dude...if you want something that MOVES, do the 5.0 in the Mustang.

I can appreciate wanting to be different, but be different in with something that has some support behind it. That is the reason why I built up a 12 second Mark VII on street tires because EVERYONE around here had a 5.0 Stang. Doing a motor swap with something that really doesn't have an aftermarket is really a waste of your time and money.

You're better off doing a 5.0/5 speed swap into an LS.

That is, if you feel like throwing your money away.
 
Sounds different but prob not a good investment, unless you're bored and have loads of money to dump.
 
The only way I would possibly even ponder doing that would be to take a 4 cyl fox and swap it or a new edge 6 cyl and swap it but even then I would seriously want to build up the motor first. Honestly, go for a Jag S Type R supercharged 4.2 if you're set on the idea.
 
Well the idea came up because my buddy has a foxbody roller that hed sell me for 300, has a disc rear in it and everything just no motor or trans, the LS motors go on ebay for like 600, can get a trans cheap too, strip the hell out of the thing, gear it, higher up TCI converter, cams eh maybe.. I think it would be light as hell, have good weight distribution, decent power, hook pretty well.. It might be fun.. I think it has 12's in it easy.
 
i would definitely get a better motor to use, somthing where you can get better internals, the 3.9 would be the last thing i would use, hell you can usually find a good deal on a 5.4 from a navi, or a 4.6 from a mark. get a couple of junk yard turbo's, and go crazy, you cant ever go wrong with a boosted twin cam in a fox body. and why mess with 12's when low 11's/high 10's are so much fun
 
you could always just buy a crate aluiminator motor, there a deal at $15k


or give it a year or so and wait for somebody to wreak there SHO and get an Ecoboost on the cheap

Don't want to get off topic too much but I test drove one the other day and let me tell you what a piece of machinary. The whine of the supercharger is worth everything. It was an 06 with 60,000 miles going for $23,000. Not too bad.
