Stopped by the paint shop check on the Mark, and I want to show some shots of the car. I went with Mercedes Benz Silver. I absolutely love the color. They are going to shoot another coat and two coats of clear. I think I am going to christen her "The Silver Bullet". The wheels on there now will be transferred to GMANjr's car, and I will be adding the stock chrome directional later, as well as come new chrome bumper and side moldings from Flexchrome and some chrome tips from Magnaflow.

Nice!!

That is a really nice color, i think it fits the car really well too. Are you going to stay with the chrome directionals or is that just temporary?

hey I like the color alot, it looks awsome, but god why oh why did you keep the chrome strip around teh car? thats gonna look soo ugly. should've filled it in and had it alll the same color. and I think the octastars would look awsome.

I agree with BlackMark8Li on the chrome strips on the side, If you can definately try to get rid of the chrome strips.

I am replacing the chrome. The chrome stripes will make the silver POP.

looks great. i painted my buddies mark VIII recently and i did the same exact thing, took the tail lights out and taped off the headlights and grill because i wasnt about to take the front bumper off the car to get the grill off and chance breaking the grill that ford made so well. you look at 1st gen grills wrong and they break. you save alot of money in labor by leaving the headlights and grill in. in my case it was a 93 with an hid conversion and i wasnt about to play wiring games with them just to remove them. anyway, the car looks great.

Fair enough. Just in my painting classes they told us to remove everything like that because it not only saves in taping time, but also makes for less places where the edges of the paint/clear to have a chance to chip, etc. But if it turns out fine then no harm done.

Picked my Mark up yesterday, and changed the wheels to chrome directionals (Thanks Jibit :) ). I just ordered the chrome strips from Flex Chrome, that should be in next week. But I am really stumped by my hood. I can get the right side to seal smoothly. I need some ideas.

Looks really nice. Is the hood not fitting flush on the driver side what you mean by not sealing?

I dont think you will ever get it to look correct til you replace the chrome trim (eyebrow). do that, and reset the wire grill support, and then adjust the hood bump stops and the latch.

Did you try to adjust the bump stops? they turn and raise and lower where your hood stops at... becareful though because you dont want to chip that new paint.

Also did the guy that paint it say anything about adjusting the hood.. I would think he would fix that for ya.

The bumpstops didn't do a thing. I sprayed the car, my buddy did most of the sanding. We jacked with that hood for two days before we sprayed. I am at my wits end.

Well after jacking with the car today, I was playing around with the hood latch. That hood latch has a lot of play in it. There seems to be two little pins that are in between where the bolts line up. I am lacking those pins. Those pins keep the hood latch centered. Without it ligning up the hood is a major pain in the ass. I still don't quite have it just right, but it is close enough for now.
