I've got a 01 LS V8 Sport & it's giving me problems. Check engine light came on & I went to Advance Auto to get it diagnosed. They told me that #4 cylinder was misfiring. I had just replaced the spark plugs so I assumed it was the coil. I replaced that & it's still missing. Any help will be much appreciated.

I had it happen to my 4 and 6 cylinder and found out the egine needed to be completely replaced...something was in the engine cause the misfire...so the warrenty ppl replaced the engine with a new one.

The engine computer does not always identify the correct misfiring cylinder. It has to take its best guess at it. You probably have one or more other coils that are defective. The one you replaced may have been okay.
Also, check that all recently replaced spark plugs are in tight, and did you set them to the correct gap?

i had mine checked and it only said 3 and 7 were bad, replaced those and still was missing. ended up just replacing them all and havent had a problem since. so i say just do all of them, if you can afford it that is.

I ordered my coils last night so I hope that the problem of misfiring is going to be resolved. After replacing the coils & plugs, if it still misfires, any suggestions? Thanx for all the input.

That'll make the misfires stop but if by chance it runs like :q:q:q:q still then from what ppl have said either cats or o2 sensors went bad.

I changed the coils & plugs & thought everything was cool but the read out at Advance still says cylinder 4 misfiring. It doesn't do it all the time, but when the engine get hot, that's when it wants to act up. Fuel Injector? Any thoughts?

wiring harness problem
intake leak near #4
Bad fuel injector
Internal engine problem

You can throw more money at it in parts, or go to a good dealer for diagnosis.
