this guy sells pre-cut vinyl overlays for the pillars for $20. but i am sure you could just buy a roll and do it yourself.

before you (and bigrig) remove anything... go get some rubbing compound and foam pad (The 3m headlight restore kit pad works perfect)... DO NOT USE THE GIT PAPER for the kit first, just the compound... go over the pillars evenly to remove the "oxidation"... i dont know how long it will last but i did mine a month or so ago, still looks new...

Better than paying for new ones anyway!
 
When I got the Expy I took rubbing compound to it for some time.....the body came out looking great...but those pillars just never got rid of that oxidation.....that's why I was wondering if anyone had a different compound.

I use Maguire product and love it....I think that's what I was using.

by hand or with a rotary of some sort?
 
Hmmm... well 3m rubbing compound did it for my LS... looked as bad as yours does
 
Maybe it's time for the belt sander?

Haha...I actually started by hand then hit it with the buffer.....but that was the Expy...haven't tried with the LS...I figured it looks the same, I would have the same results.
