Couple of weeks ago my LS reached 120k miles. Although I love it, but I need to get rid of it. It's gonna go on autotrader probably on next week.

The grill and the rims are off.
Sorry for bad quality pictures, camera phone.

Nothing for now, maybe later in the end of 2007 BMW 545i, 2003 M5, 745i/750i or a Benz e500, cls500, s55. I don't know yet, a lot of things are on my mind. But something nice.

Never be afraid of miles mean nothing if a car is well kept.

I have 144K, 150K, and 210K on Mark VIII's and they run as good and many brand new cars. Only thing you have to do is learn how to turn a wrench and fix the small parts that wear out, and any idiot can do that.

I say if you like the car keep it and keep it up. You are not going to get anything in trade in. So the pleasure of the car is yours until it truly dies.

That's true, but I want to save some money and get something else.

I think what mespock is saying that if you sell it your only get KBB value if it's in PERFECT condition, but with your miles, your likely to get $5K-$7K... If you traded it in, you'd get only about 1/2 that ($2k-$4k) for it..

What car could you possible get that if you sold this car (not trading it in) and bought another without getting another car loan for which would be putting yourself MORE IN DEBT, which (if i read correctlY) is what you don't want to do.

Mespock was saying that don't let the miles scare you... It's the maintenance and upkeep of the car that makes it or breaks it..

If your REALLY that stressed about mileage.. You can buy a brand new engine or slightly used one for a fraction of the cost of buying another car.. that way you'll have your fav. ls w/ a new heart.

Arthur, now is the perfect time to pull out the old V6 and drop in a nice Jag S-Type R motor in there!!!

This is EXACTLY what I'm going to do to mine... by the time I'm gona get me a new one, the rims/tires will be worth more than the car. So i'd rather drop $4k on a new engine, than get more into debt by getting another car and start all over again.

Looks more like he wants to upgrade his car moreso than sell it due to fear of hi mileage or even savings. Could be wrong but it doesn't look like any money would be saved by buying any of the listed cars seeing as how they're a different breed of cars.

I dont know what the price compares there and how much your looking at but a 2004 7 series or older are really nice. My dad was looking either to get a used 7 series or new 5 series. They are pretty much around the same price. Sometimes you could find a 2005 or 2006 used 7 series for the same price as a new 5 series but some people have to have new cars.

I have to admit...If you have another ride and are tired of the LS, it would be easier to save money without the LS. I know mine is constantly trying to get into my wallet!

It's not that much of the miles, the car doesn't show it's mileage from the outside at all, looks fresher than most of the 00-02 LSs. The engine is fine and the rest is fine. I just get really upset when things start rattling inside and I start hearing noises.

I agree with all of you, but I am pretty much thinking the way M1I2K9E and Mharrison said.

I am probably just making excuses to get something else ;)

any more details on this? i thought it was REALLY hard to get any other motor than stock running right in these cars, mostly because of the computer.

I think you need everything from the donor Jag to get it to work. Computers, complete engine, tranny....

Complete wiring harness...

It is incredibally expensive to do any kind of engine swap that isn't what came with the car. There is very little compatible between the V6 and V8 wiring harness'. Even less between the Jag and Lincoln.

My 2000 has just shy of 135K miles and is running like a top. My alternator failed about 5K miles ago, which I consider pretty normal. Other than that and the usual stuff that wears out (tires, brakes, shocks, serpentine belt, etc.) my LS has been very reliable. As I have the first and last LSes, I plan on keeping mine forever.

its not affordable, but doable with enough money. Ive seen the 03 S-Type R' for $26K used, probably be better off just buying one instead of investing money into the LS.

Americans are are in the mind set that when a car reaches 100K miles the car is trashed.

This is so wrong now days. Yes you are going to have some repairs most easy parts to work on and much cheaper than car payments.

Get a Shop manual, find a few people on LvC that you trust and keep the car running. You are not going to get a lot for you car unless you just get lucky.

Put away a few $100 a month for a year take some tax return money watch the buyer insentives if you need or desire a newer car. But keep the LS and turn it into you play car. Make Gear head love to her and turn her into a car you just can't wait to take out on the road.

You have a nice car that you can play with for years and enjoy. If you can drop in a new or biggier engine go for it. Go through the Mark VIII forum and look what we are doing to these cars. A lot of the mods are not that expensive and fun to do. Good Luck

I can fully understand where your coming from there. It seems like every other time I get in the car now, I hear a different rattle somewhere.

I second that.... What really pisses me off is when you take it into the stealership to get work done on it and it comes back w/ a rattle it didn't have before... :p

I did actually, I drove a new S-type R the other day.

It was really fast, it looked really good. I think those are the only 2 things I liked about it.

I didn't like the steering feel, it was too light, the LS's feel is perfect in my opinion. The steering wheel also vibrated a little. I also felt that the driver's sitting position feels a bit crouded, I felt kind of squized in there. The LS and the Jag are almost same size, but LS feels bigger inside, maybe because of the interior layout.

Actually I was considering the Jag for all this time, but after I drove it, not so much anymore.

Good luck my friend, checkout some Jags too.

Too bad they don't make the LS anymore. Especially with upgraded engineering changes ( like Lexus and Infinity). You might have considered staying American.
In case you haven't noticed I am extremely disappointed with management at Ford. Damn Idiots.
