My LED / HID Upgrades

Switch-Backs Solved!

Well, I gave up on trying to figure out how Ford pulled off the circuit for the front park and signals. I instead turned my attention on how to make it work with the switchbacks.

Here's the necessary circuit to make it work. It may need a couple of tweaks, but nothing major. The circuit will remain the same, if anything changes, it will be the labels on the socket.

I have to order more relays and the new switchback bulbs before I can do this, but if you want to do this as well, now is the time to order! You will have to do this for each side, so it means a total of 4 relays to do the front two lights.

*** Note: This is for Gen II. I have no clue if this works on Gen I ***

This is what you should end up with after doing the relay circuit. This is NOT the exact socket from the LS, I'm just using it for reference. Two contacts on one end should switch on positive, and two contacts on the other end should be constant ground.

If you do this, and the white flashes or the amber is on solid, this is where the label tweaking comes in. The wires going into the socket are reversed. The white should be solid when park lights are on. When the signal is turned on, the white turns off and the amber flashes solo.

After installing the switchbacks (which are 5000k white), I decided to change the [factory] HIDs to 5000k. The 6000k on the LS is much darker than the 6000k on my truck for some reason, so I was already considering it. They're whiter than the stock bulbs, but they don't really have that blue tint to them. I have the 3000k (yellow) bulbs in the fogs right now, but I may swap them out to 5000k as well to get an even color tone all the way across the front. Overall I'm very happy about the look... now if only I had an LSE grill and '06 bumper... :shifty:

Go ahead and spend the $1000(bumper cover, grille, and paint) and get it done. It is worth it. At least you will not have to buy headlights, as I did, to complete the look.
