Well, I only have one picture of her, and she needs more work then what the picture shows. Cordovan Red 97 I believe, with grey interior and 120000 miles purchased for 800 and 10 hours total driving and needs some TLC. Has quite a few dents, driver side quarter panel paint is cracked, passenger door has a good sized dent towards the bottom, also faded paint by the door handle, moldings need new chrome, and new double sided sticky tape, driver side door panel is ok but could be better, needs better front headlight eyebrows and chrome grill, will need passenger fender replaced with another as it looks like they ran upon a curve, and just other little things I am nitpicking about. Now for the PATS, plain and simple, the car won't run, just turns over and over. Lady I bought it from said she only used the key she provided, and one day I guess it just wouldn't start. When I try to start it, the anti-theft just flashes and the car turns over and over but never cranks. Since I only have one key, what should I do about this? Just disable PATS in a tune, or is there a security module for it that I can disable/cut? I heard that the SCIL module can go bad and something behind the ignition can, causing the car to go into anti theft mode. I believe I can get a updated SCIL module and whatever the ignition thing is, and go from there. How would I do that? What would be my best option?

The good things:

Purchased for 800
Air Ride Still Works
New Fuel Pump
New Sony CD Player
New Sony 6x9s all around
Engine Has Never Been Modded And Looks Clean
Fluids Are Really Clean
Trunk Is In Mint Condition With Mint Jack And Spare
4 New Falken Tires
New Rear Shocks In The Back, They Are Red, And That Is All I Know. Haven't Checked The Front Yet.

dunno about that light, but, the PATS, PASSIVE anti theft system, can only disable the starter. so if it cranks (the starter engages and the engine turns over), PATS is not the problem. something else is at play.

check for fuel and spark.

i'm going to guess either no fuel, because of a FPDM, safety switch, or fuel pump.
or no spark, because of the crank sensor.

I believe the car will still crank and start, but after several seconds, the PCM will cut off fuel or spark.

+1

I'd start with the safety switch first.

Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you first turn on the ignition?

Hmm, on the message center panel, when trying to start the car, it turns over and over, and only the anti-theft light flashes rapidly, nothing else. That is why I thought it was security related. I forgot to check for the pump priming, something I always do! I will check for that, but it was left at my brothers house 3 hours away, so I will get him to do it. The ladies bf did say, the fuel pump was replaced and either the cut off switch or fpdm was replaced also. He thought also it wasn't getting any fuel, and possibly thought the pump harness was bad.

Have you tried locking and unlocking the door via the key and then starting it

Or clearing the ECU at the battery?

The first thing we did when we got it was try and start it, battery was completely dead, so it was switched out and I had the drivers door open. Hooked up the battery and the alarm went off, and I tried to cut it off by hitting the unlock button on the inside but it wasn't doing anything, so the battery was taken back off ,and I put the key in the ignition, and the battery was hooked back up, and I think the alarm went off until I turned the key. Brother said he does not hear the fuel pump priming. I suppose reseting the ecu by disconnecting the battery nor locking or unlock the door by key.

Well, excuse my first post, as my car is Toreador Red, and does not have air ride still intact, oh well! Anyhow, the car was finally brought to me this weekend. Finally got the anti theft to stop blinking, when trying to start the car. First thing I did was hook up the battery, left everything closed except the hood, pulled the pcm diode, and scil fuse, and put them back, then unlocked the car with the keyless entry code. Anti theft flashed a couple times when opening the door, then went off, stuck the key in, turn it to the on position, waited until anti theft went off again, then turned her over. Tries to run, but she cant. Starts up maybe for 1-2 seconds then dies. Can barely hear the pump priming, so pulled the fuel filter and yuck, dirty mess, primed again and the pump was louder, but still sounded weak. Dropped the tank to check all the wires to the fuel pump, and inside the car, and oh lord, I wanted to shoot myself, and whoever did the wiring! This **** is horrible, and I hope nobody EVER does this!! So none the less I need somebody kind enough, if possible, to go to a junkyard and take out the fuel pump with wires and all, and the to cut the wires inside the cabin, where they intersect with the big wire loom.

Can you wait till next weekend? If so I'll grab ya one

I have no problem waiting. I already pm'ed a guy parting his Gen 2 out, if he can't get me all of the stuff, or just never replies, then I will let you know something. Thanks for the help though!

So, I got everything wired up with the fuel pump assembly, and the wiring harness inside the cabin now. Big thanks to Markviiiedrea and slowmkviii! :D Just have to blow out the lines and then install the fuel tank and new fuel filter. Hopefully, she will fire right up! I did have one thing I was kind of iffy about, I have seen this a couple of times before, and wondering what the purpose of this wire was. The silver naked wire, wrapped in foil, wound around the other two wires? What is the purpose of it, as it was never connected to anything, it just ends a little bit from the connector and wraps around the two. :shifty::confused:

Oh, and them 3 wires are part of the harness (moved the others aside for a clearer pic) from inside the car, that runs under the back seat and through the bottom of the car to the fuel pump connector. All I know is that the naked wire is not tied into anything, its just there.

I read entire post and I can't believe I will be the first to post the rims are on backwards :shifty:

Also on both my original '96 and my '98 they both pulled a get in and just crank and crank. Then I learned to go under and unplug the crank trigger then plug it back in. Car would start right up after that.

Fired right up today after 2 cranks! :D Did a scan and got a couple of codes I will need to figure out and take care of. Car does have a miss, it comes and goes on it's own intermittently, scanner only picked it up once, and I don't know what it didn't afterwards, but you can hear it missing, since the car has no exhaust from the 3rd resonator back. Hopefully, it's just a bad boot, but if need be, I will take a trip to the parts store, and buy a new coil. Already replaced the plugs, and it's still there. Also, just some random info, the scanner did a freeze frame and this is what it said. Anybody care to explain if that's good and what it means? Besides the obvious last three.

Oh, and yes the rims are on backwards! Lol you are the first to say something about it! Right On The Mark, what does it shield? For interference purposes I suppose?
