so i did my brakes about 2 wks ago. Porterfield Pads and Raybestos PG Plus rotors. since then they have squeaked, not really that bad, just enough to notice it when playing music. I used permatex disc quite on the pads and lubed all metal to metal points,..but still nothing, still squeak. But here's the kicker...when I do some spirited braking, all of a sudden they don't make a sound...when i let them cool off (3-5 min) the squeaks return...anyone have any ideas on what it might be...

on a side note, i was thinking the Raybestos rotors would be made in USA however they are made in.........u guessed it China.
The Porterfield pads are great. while they're lack of cold bite is noticeable it in my opinion does not negate the great improvenment in "hot" braking.

I think most performance brake set-ups will squeek, until you get them up to temp.

I always burn my brakes in successfully

New pads then drive, 60 mph, hit the brakes hard but not hard enough to lock, come to a long stop, do it again, then at 35 mph. I do this then at 60 on the freeway just touch the brakes to get contact for a few moments so they heat up good. All done, no squeaks. Pads burned in. I do not recommend this to anyone. I do it and it works for me.

burn em in good. drive down the street a half mile or so with the brakes on. i do this on all customers cars. dont stop for long after doing this or youll warp a rotor. do it in a neighborhood you know well with stop signs, so you can roll stop, then let them cool good. or you might warp a rotor. If they are true performance pads they will squeek unless they are hot, thats just the nature of the beast.
