My .02 on Tires

Hey All,

So I went to Kauffman tire on Saturday and had a set of Toyo Extensa HP tires put in after going in with the mindset of "I'm getting Michelins". The only reason I went with the Toyo's was because of this 30-day guarantee, meaning I could take it back and have the tires swapped out and only pay the difference in tire cost if I don't like the tires, I figured what the hell. Well, suffice it to say, the car is going back in tomorrow and having Michelins put on it. For anyone looking for a good mid-priced tire, I advise you to stay away from these Toyo's, the only good thing I can say about them is they seemed to have very low rolling resistance, other than that they were very noisy, handling sucked on wet pavement, and they transmitted every bump way more than the almost-bald Continentals I was using before.

I have to say Kudo's to Kauffman tire however, they did beat Big10Tire's price on both the Toyo's and the Michelin Pilot's I'm having installed tomorrow.

The Hankook Ventus ZR tires my car came with were pretty nice until it got cold. Now that it's gotten cold it feels like they're all out of balance until they warm up. I still need to check tire pressure as I've been working sunup to sundown practically 7 days a week, but they act like they're getting stiff and get flat spots from the ground in the cold and round back out when it warms up. These are probably summertime only tires.

I'm highly interested in your review on them.. I plan on ordering some for my new wheels. I'll be running them 3 seasons a year, and there's ALWAYS the possibility of getting caught in snow in Montana, which is why I want to know how they do in the winter?

I don't want to suggest them just yet since I barely put 30 miles on them. Ill update as time goes on.

From the research I've done, these are the best all season tires for snow. Tire rack did a comparo, and these came out significantly better in ice and snow. If dry performance is what your looking for, the Bridgestone Potenzas (I think) favor dry weather conditions.

Being in Michigan I need the snow and ice security so I went with these.

I just got my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires yesterday, I can tell a HUGE difference just going 20mph, I can barely feel the bumps in my neighborhood that I used to feel with my Continentals (which were far better tires than the Toyo's I had taken off yesterday). And even though it's cold outside they are still smoother riding when cold than any other tires I've had, once they've warmed up (after about 5 minutes) they are butter-smooth. Here is an example of the tire I got put on:

Needless to say, I'm a happy man. I also just got my new Galaxy Note II from UPS yesterday, so I'm feeling great this morning!

heh, I know what you mean, but no credit card bill for me. I followed the Dave Ramsay plan a few years back to get out of debt so now everything is paid for in cash, my only debt is the mortgage and the last 2 years of paying off my wife's Mustang GT I'm already budgeting buying Michelins for her car next summer

So how does everyone feel about hankooks?

They have the Ventus V12's for a good price right now. I dont need an all season tire down here.
