Well I will be picking up a 2006 saturday and I have a few questions to those of you who have the gen 2 / Gen 2 LSE. I figured I would condense all the questions in to one thread instead of a handful.

1. Id what I found right, 5K HIDs best match stock HIDs?

2. IF I wanted to go to 6K I can just order a bulb from DDM or some place like that correct?

3. The ten 2 low beam and fog lights (LSE or 06) take H11 bulbs correct?

4.Does anyone know if there is a difference in wiring between an 01 and a 06 as far as the head units go. My 01 had the alpine and the 06 has the CD/tape deck. I am swapping over my pioneer DVD unit and I hope the only thing I need to buy is the dash kit.

5.Does anyone here have a gen 2 with eyebrows / eyelids? I have them on my 01 and love the way the look, curious how they would look on a gen 2.

Think thats it for now. I will post pics once I pick her up

5K is indeed the closest match for the stock lows.

D2R is the stock low beam bulb for HID and H11 is the old LSE fog. If you buy new fog housings they will be H8 instead. You can use any bulb you want but you will need a Torx (T20) screwdriver as the headlights are fully sealed. The low beam and high beam both have covers on them that have to be removed first to get to the bulbs.

You can use a D2S bulb with some modification but those are made for projector systems.

The tape deck will make it really easy...the hard install is swapping from THX to aftermarket.

1. 5000k would probably match your OEM HID's if the HID's are burned in and color shifted they'll burn closer to 5000k. If you bump up the color temp get all new bulbs at the same time and you most likely be fine on matching if they're the same color from the same company.

2. If you want 6000k, DDM Tuning sells D2R bulbs in 6000k, TRS sells them in 6000k, and foreign Amazon sites sell legit Philips in 6000k. Depends on how much you want to spend, money and time looking for them. A D2R bulb is a D2R bulb regardless of where it comes from, just look for the color temp you want.

Low Beams - D2R
Hi Beams - 9005
Fog - H11 or H8, you're going to have to look
Turn Signals - #3157 (might as well get chrome ones or LED's while you're at it)

4. Consult wiring gurus of LVC. I'm not searching for that one.

5. It will look the same.

*Edit - Black beat me to it. D2C is universal to D2R and D2S. D2R in a D2S and vice versa needs modification for the notch location. You'll get a skosche more output with the D2S in a D2R housing from what I've read since it is not shielded.

Yeah i just fixed my post. I think a D2S will output more but glare in the reflector.

Probably best to just use a D2R.

4. Stock headunit wiring is different between 01 and 06. Connectors, pin-outs, and the data bus are all different.

Thanks guys for the input so far. I think I might just get some D2R 6ks so they all match and wont need modification.

I might look in to the LED turns but I know that requires some modification as well but at the very least get some stealth bulbs or something.

It seems when searching for eyebrows for the gen 2 it comes up with a lot less than the gen 1 thats why I asked.

Thanks again.

No modification needed for LED signals. Just need both front rears to prevent hyper flash/error message.

I'm guessing he means the resistor necessary for LED brake lights? That is necessary for Gen 1 or Gen 2, right? And do you only have to wire the resistor to the wiring on one side or both?

whether of not you need resistors totally depend on the bulbs themselves, some of the better quality bulbs have the resistors built inside them, most of the cheaper ones do not.

you only need one resistor per circuit, so one resistor for all of the internal lights, but one resistor for each turn signal. make sense?

So I will NOT need resisters for the signals if I swap all four signals out to LED, correct?

And whats with their being pat numbers for a turn signal and a side marker I thought they were one in the same on the gen IIs

For my other LEDs at the moment I will be doing the
puddle lights-194
License plate lights-168
Reverse Lights-921
Trunk Light-212

Pertaining to the HID question:

I need D2R bulbs because they are reflective housings correct?

For the low beams the link above says my 2006 LS takes H11 bulbs, right?

For the fogs I see 9145 but I want to go HID so I will need ballasts and H10 or H11 bulbs? I see conflicting statements.

We just stated above the right sizes.

Read it again i explained it clearly. The low beam is not an H11, its a D2R (reflector HID system use D2R, projectors use D2S). High beam is a 9005. Turn signals front and rear, you can use 3157's. The fogs again will be H11 if they are original to the car, or if the owner swapped out the housings then they will be H8.

All you have to do is lay under the car, pull the bulb out and confirm the size.
