I was just wondering I'm thinkin of upgrading my mufflers... I don't want to do a whole new exhaust yet... kinda tight on money... what kinda would you recommend?... I was thinkin of couple of magnaflows on there... just want a little more purr outta the kitten :)... would I need to update anything else?
 
If you have a base non LSC Mark VIII you should get the resonator removed at the same time you do the mufflers. For a cheap, good sound get Dynomax Bullets. If you want some expensive stainless steel mufflers get some Dynomax Ultraflows or Magnaflows. Or you can run straight pipes, no mufflers, sounds great and is the cheapest route. If you don't like it you can always put some mufflers on it later.

I love the sound of my magnaflows. Although I got rid of the stock Y and put in an X-pipe. So, it would sound different than just welding on mufflers.(X-pipe definitely the way to go)

The sound of the magnaflows is by far the best sound when compared to any other muffler. This is just personal preference, but the exotic sound of magnaflows puts a smile on my face every time I drive!

It's a 97' Mark Viii LSC... yeah I heard about the X pipes... I was thinkin about magnaflow with the x's built in... but I don't know much about exhaust... like I said I just want a little purr and better tips out the back... the factory ones aren't much my style
 
i purchased 2 cheap mufflers with oval tips on ebay.They where stainless steel and cost only 30each.The sound is truely one of a kind.TYPE IN OVAL MUFFLER and see.Just a suggestion


BTW-does lincoln motorsports still sell cowl hoods.i was interested a month or two back but they said the guy was on vacation?no email came back
 
Magnaflows are great. Also check out Hooker and Dynomax if your wallet is low...

I'd love to get the LMS ones... they're awesome sounding and I like the look... but the price is a little steap... I'm gonna see what my budget is... tell you the truth they're not really that bad since you get the tips with them.. maybe I'll go with them
 
i have cherry bomb turbos on my mark VIII. sound good but not too load. cheap too. $20 each. im getting better ones once i have a supercharger.

The problem with them is they are thin wall gauge wise, they are NOT ss inside, the wool packing is more or likely fiberglass which will blowout within a year usually. They are cheapa$$ China Mufflers.

no cats and 05 mustang GT mufflers. sounds great. just like an 05 mustang....go figure.

no power gain due to the stock piping though.
 
I search around and I decided I'm just gonna wait and save up for Geno's LMS... figure it's a great deal... the mufflers I looked at where around 40-60 bucks and then you throw on tips... it's up around 90 bucks at least... also it's the got the x pipes built in so that's awesome... it's made for it and plus you get a warrenty... it's worth it I believe
 
I've got a '96 Gen I Mark VIII and I just removed the two mufflers at the back bumper, gutted the third cat and left the resonator on for inspection purposes. Cost me $60 bucks to get the muff cut off and a couple hours work in the back yard to gut the cat. The sound is very unique and I noticed an improvement in gas mileage and power. I've had several compliments on the sound too. Just a suggestion for a cheap way to go. I do plan to do a full dual exhaust setup when the budget allows.

works fine for base models. us LSCs dont have that resonator.
