MPG data resets?

For a little while now, I've noticed that my MPG in the data resets itself down to 0.0 MPG. This seems to happen every 4-8 weeks. And when it happens, it takes longer than usual for it to get to my actual average. It will take a day or so and finally move 1.0 MPG (so after a day I'm finally averaging 1.0 MPG!!! )

Any ideas what could be causing this? I am replacing my clock spring today, but I don't believe that would cause that issue.

Thanks,
Craig

Maybe someone or you are accidentally pressing reset.

if you drive like me, the MSG CNTR is always displaying the average MPG, and if anyone presses reset, asking "what do these do?". It will be reset.

Also what do you mean you are averaging 1.0 MPG? The thing is going to be very volatile until you drive for longer periods of time... It is an average of every tenth of a mile you drive, so of course if you press reset rolling down a hill, you are going to average like 40+ MPG for a hill, then it will drop to 15 accelerating back up.

It sounds like a defect of some sort inside the cluster.

No, definitely not anyone hitting reset by accident, lol. I've actually witnessed it go from my actual mpg down to zero. And like I described earlier, after that happens, it takes forever for it to actually go up. As in, even if I coast down a hill it won't go up to 40+MPG.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Was just curious if anyone else had had that problem.

Yea sounds annoying.

Does the miles till empty feature work correctly?

Yeah, miles till empty is fine and doesn't change any. And it most definitely is annoying lol.
