Hello all. After getting a rough shift from 2-3, I hear a weeping/moaning sound from the passenger side of the engine that increases with engine rpm. It went away thinking it was nothing. I turned the car off to replace the wiper blade, upon turning the car back on, the noise was at its highest audacity. It went away once more after the rpm dropped down to 1k. Power steering and oil levels are normal. Any ideas?

I believe i know this one. start the engine and check the intake tube before the throttle body for noise.....if it is coming from the tube then your IAC valve is starting to fail. I'm on my 3rd valve 01V6. When they get weak, they create a moaning sound thru the air intake tube. try cleaning out the valve first, it may fix it for awhile.

Lol. Had my fair share of racing the LS also. My v6 has a very good pickup when it wants to, which does give me an advantage (when its in the mood.

IAC - Idle Air Control Valve
You can remove it and clean the 2 ports & the pintel inside one of the ports, recommend CARB-Medic for this. There is also a voltage & resistance test for the electrical connector to tell if it is going bad or worn out. Some also have a black cap covering another port on the side that can be cleaned. These IAC valves are used on many FORD products to control air to throttle body. A burned plug or plugs do to a to lean a fuel/air mixture may relate to a bad IAC valve.

I may need to replace the iac since i do hear the engine having an inconsistent idle, even tough the rpm on the dash stays constant. I hear the engine decrease a little and then speeds back up, decrease a little then speed back up. It's not at a consistent timed pattern, but it happens regardless. If this is related to the IAC, please let me know. Thanks.
based on what others have said on this topic in the past cleaning the IAC would help. might as well clean your MAF and throttle body while youre at it. make sure you use the throttle body cleaner that is safe for teflon coated throttle bodies only. CRC makes some. CRC also makes MAF cleaner.
i had a lean code disappear after cleaning the MAF and a running a bottle of lucas thru the gas tank.
it would probably help if someone posted directions and pictures of IAC cleaning. there isnt much out there on it after my brief searching

I'll definitely try to clean those parts before the winter is over. I also forgot to mention in my original post that when I have my heater on, I hear a click from the engine bay followed by the engine bogging down and speeding back up. The click sounds similar to that when the a/c is turned on. Any ideas?

Yes, it's the AC compressor cycling on and off. (It has to cycle when it is cold.) This is the way it is supposed to work (AC on all the time the system is on). It won't reduce your mileage enough to notice, it won't reduce heating, and it will increase your comfort and reduce window fogging.
. Thanks!Well after cleaning the TB, IAC, and MAF the sound went away for a while. Right now I am going to school in Nassau County (about 30 miles from me one way) and I notice the sound coming back immediately when pulling off the interstate. Should I just replace the whole IAC?

Probably. I had a bad IAC on a 94 4.6L make a loud moaning sound. Replacing it fixed that.

its only two bolts and an electrical connector. replace it.
mine worked fine, but the moaning drove me crazy, so i replaced it, bought another on ebay for $30, five minutes to change it out, problem solved.
