So this past weekend I was out cruising in the LS, just showing her off at 27mph on main street. Shortly after deciding i was bored and done for the night, a kid pulls up next to me in a town car blasting Hot Rod Lincoln from his stereo. He looks over and revs his engine. It definitely didn't sound stock, so I appeased him with a "yeah sure lets go" rev. Not knowing what this kid had done and knowing that my bottle was in the shed at home, I took traction control off, switched to SST put my left foot on the brake and held her at 1200rpm. Kinda excited to see what this kid had, I waited for the green. The light changed and I dropped the hammer. I unleashed everything my baby could muster. I was about to shift to third when I looked and saw him trying his best but not having anything left to run me down. I chuckled and pulled into the parking lot of a local restaurant chain. He followed me in and we started talking about his car. Bone stock with flow masters. What a let down. Here I thought maybe just maybe this kid had actually done something worth while.
"What have you done?" he asked me... and he got the standard answer:
"Beat me and I'll show you!"
I watched as he left reving his engine like he was the champ, but knowing he ranks right up there with 95% of "car guys" who just dont get it.
Earlier in the weekend, I went down to Fall River to see some friends. Well I got to drinking and with a few in me decided it wasnt worth the risk to drive home. My girl who hadnt been drinking got the privilege. I had her take the 93N through the big dig under boston so I could listen to the new exhaust. Well as we get into the tunnel, some guy in an A4 goes flying by.
"You better not let that guy beat my car"
She drops the hammer and starts apexing the turns (there is nothing sexier than a woman who actually knows how to race) and letting the LS's nuts sag a bit. She catches and passes Mr. Imatoolwithtoomuchmoney and continues to let her rip through the rest of the tunnel, but eases up a bit. I looked down at the Navi screen with gauges on it.... 115mph....
"Do you know how fast your going?"
"ummmm..... HOLY SH*T! If I did that in my car I'd be dead!"
hahahahahahaha yet another fan of the LS has been made! She is used to driving either her TA or her sport compact G5. I would figure the TA cant keep up, but the G5 is the same as the cobalt and the IRL and yet she still was blown away by the LS!
