i guess this is the notorious misfire question but the only thing is that i don't know what can be causing it. as some of you might know i had the gms coils in not to long ago and they had to be pulled because i had a misfire on coil 3. so they put the oem ones back. everything was fine for like a week and now my car shakes and check engine light comes on (same symptoms as the gms ones). so my question is can it be the coil if they were working fine before? i haven't had the code pulled because it's too late but i will tomorrow morning. what i want to know is can it be the spark plug or the gasket that is making it shake and have the check engine come on? or maybe oil in the well? i'm just brainstorming i guess but i don't want to change this coil and have it do the same thing a week later. i'm just saying this because the gms ones were new and it still shook (keep in mind they were proto-types tho). any info would be much appreciated. i hope it's not the gasket

I always thought it was a bad gasket leading to oil in the well which causes the coil to miss?

Maybe when they put things back together some oil got in the wells, just a thought if you doubt it would be the gasket.

That sucks I feel for ya seeing on how you wanted to try something like that for the coils. I mean I hope it didn't mess things up on you by putting in those coils in the first place. That in mind, you might rather have it be just a gasket and oil leak.;)

GOOD LUCK!

my car was misfiring like crazy -barely would run and you could see the tach fluctuating- replaced the sparkplugs still was missing but only under a load and car seemed to drive great otherwise. never threw a CEL.

new revelation, lol. so it turns out that it wasn't what i thought in part. it wasn't really the bad coil but when i took out coil number 3 to replace i noticed that the factory harness clip was broken. i guess people won't know what i'm talking about unless you've changed your coils. the clip was causing the coil not to properly stay in place which was causing the misfire, ergo, AND THAT'S A BIG ERGO, the GMS coils that were placed in my car were good but my harness is what made the coil misfire. my question is, where in sam hill can i get that harness and how do i replace it? to i have to cut the wires and use some sodering? well, that's that, i replaced the coil because when i took out the coil i accidentally messed it up. that's 55 bucks i'll never see again. it'll go on sale in a week or two since i will be re-installing the GMS coils back in if anyone is interested
