Metal and rubber gasket only for the LS's Coolant pump...do not use paper gasket

You mean water pump?
I was going to say water pump but in the 2006 Lincoln LS Shop manual they subject it under the Title " Coolant Pump "

Removal and Installation

  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
  1. Remove the thermostat housing. For additional information, refer to Thermostat Housing in this section.
  1. Loosen the coolant pump pulley bolts.
    • Do not remove at this time.
  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section 303-05 .
  1. Remove the 3 bolts and the coolant pump pulley.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in), then rotate an additional 45 degrees.
  1. Remove the 5 bolts and the coolant pump.
    • Remove and discard the coolant pump gasket.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in), then rotate an additional 90 degrees.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install a new coolant pump gasket.
  1. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section
 
But you are correct. Use the metal/rubber gasket... not a composite/paper gasket.

Shouldn't be an issue if a factory/OEM water pump is installed... since it comes with the correct gasket.
