Super nice guy! I really enjoyed the small amount of time that I was able to hang out at his house and shop this last Saturday. It's really great to meet other people with a similar passion for Mark VIII's as I have. I got a chance to check out his 3 Mark VIII's including the "test mule" for all of their products, as well as Legend Mustang #1. (wow, btw)
Unfortunately, time was not on my side. I had originally planned to arrive around 2pm, but getting out of the house a little late, paired with some horrible traffic coming into Atlanta pushed my arrival time to somewhere around 4:30-5:00, and he had prior plans for the evening...
Since I'm moving soon, I've really been trying to get rid of extra parts and stuff in my garage to help make the move a little easier. In the process, I talked to John about some stuff and found out about his sincere interest in Mark VIII's and keeping his around for a while. He was interested in a ton of parts and I soon realized that the cost of driving to Atlanta was gonna be WAY less than the cost of shipping all of this stuff.
So, I loaded up the 98 with all of the parts and took it on it's first road trip in at least 6 years...
It was fun. I hadn't driven the 98 farther than about 40 miles from home since the first year I owned it, when I drove it up to Ohio from Virginia in 2004. Usually we drive our Tacoma on road trips since it's the newer vehicle and cuz I don't like putting "wear" on the Marks...lol. It performed flawlessly, by the way. I love driving that car!
Anyway, I ended up getting a set of his white face gauges, center caps, Cobra intake emblem, and a couple center console springs. His website pictures don't do his products justice! They are top-notch!
Any reservations I may have had about any of them went out the window as soon as I saw them. The steering wheels, center caps, the white face gauges, the intake emblem, and especially the "terminator" bumper....awesome-looking, and great quality.
Don't even get me started on the 6-speed conversion....there isn't very much that I wouldn't do to have that installed on my car....money's short right now, but if it's still available when the money's there, you can bet that I'm going to him for that.
I wasn't lucky enough to be able to attend the Carlisle show, so I had only seen the pictures. I wanted this stuff before I saw them, but afterward, I NEEDED it! lol. We need to keep him around! Support him in any way that you can. He's got great ideas for these cars and it's all for nothing if we don't support him.
Thanks again John, and keep up the good work!
