:mad: Got in the car yesterday to go to work and got about halfway into the street when the car refused to move anymore. Won't engage in any gear at all. Code reader gets nothing, but I didn't really expect it to.
Since either
1: The search feature on here kinda sucks or
2: I just don't know how to use it right I found very little about this particular set of symptoms.

I am kinda stuck. Is this a full blown dead transmission, or is there some random part gone bad? I'm sure someone on here has had a similar issue. Tell me what you know! Thanks!
 
From ShopKey, it doesn't look like there is much you can do without a scanner.. I would take it and have it scanned.. Both KOEO (Key On Engine Off) and KOER (Key On Engine Running).. See if you get any codes..

Ok.. This is what I have for you..

Check trans fluid level and condition, Shift linkage (proper adjustment), Digital TR sensor, Valve body for sticky valves, Incorrectly tightened valve body bolts (cross leakage), and torque converter.. The rest is an overhaul of the trans
 
No E on the display. Cycles PRND5D4, but I don't feel the "clunk" when it engages and it just revs when I goose it.

As for your second post, could I get that in English? Not familiar with those terms.
 
Ok, did some editing.. It seems like the trans fluid could be the problem.. Could be low.. When checking, look at the color and smell it to see if it has a burnt smell
 
Thanks! So, being a sealed transmission, is there a fluid check window or anything, or do I need to open the thing up to check it?

The drain plug has a regular head for oil removal and a hex key middle.. You have to take the middle of it out and make sure fluid comes out.. If fluid is coming out, your fine..
 
Can't find the figure..

You have to run the engine for a bit.. With the engine running and it in Park, use a 3/16 allen head to remove the middle of the drain plug. Let it flow for one minute or until it drips. If no fluid drips, you must add fluid (which is a PITA). Check again (if fluid is added).
 
Also there is a plug at the back of the trans that you can use to add fluid and wait for it to drip out of the check plug under the pan. It is on the right side of the trans almost at the rear of it. It will come out with a hex wrench also.

It is a torx bit, not an allen.

TBoomer, first thing to check is the shift linkage. It is up along the drivers side of the transmission. Your situation does not sound like low fluid...unless you have a huge puddle of it under your car from a monster leak that showed up yesterday. Typically you would notice other erratic transmission behavior as your fluid gets low long before it will not shift at all.

I can not figure out how, but it sounds like your linkage is messed up and the shifter is not actually engaging the transmission.
