Had a little meet last Friday. Bout 55-60 degrees out, real nice. I've bben debating with myself whether or not to part with the beast though. I've been wanting a stang for a long time now, and I'm starting to burn out of the whole mark thing. I like it, especially the way it looks with the termi wheels, and how unique it is. It sounds alright IMO. I hate how slow it is and how **** breaks all the time. I know its typical mark stuff, but it seems like i ve had every known common mark problem. Gonna look at a 5.4 4v swapped stang maybe this week, which I think would be cool, and a fairly uncommon setup. I just don't know..

Moss, you have 4.10s and a muffler delete. What do you expect? *throws Mark8 naturally aspirated cookbook at Moss* Duck!

Honestly though, I need to take you for a ride and your opinion would change dramatically. You simply don't have enough mods in place.

I've owned 7 Mustangs & while I love 'em it gets pretty boring seeing them everywhere you go. For the next few days make an effort to notice every Mustang you pass by & soon you'll see just how common they are.

I prefer to drive something that stands out from the rest. Oh, you can add a bunch of custom stuff to a Mustang in an effort to be different than the other 50 you'll see on any given day, but at its core it's still just like every other one.

Boring!!

Mustang? if your baseball cap is not already on backwards, do it now..j/k
:D
-but i get what you're saying....the need for mark VIII hub swaps are just the tip of the iceberg; if I didn't do 90 hwy miles/day I might consider changing cars...rather have a Corvette than a mouse though

I hear ya, your $ will go further with a mustang for sure and the only thing that would be easier to get parts for would be a camero.
The others are correct in the fact that mustang are "me too" cars.
Everyone you tell you have a mustang the response seems to be "me too"
If you want one buy one and don't look back, the ride and interior are less than the mark but you won't be disappointed in the bang for the buck.

I gave my last Mustang to my Niece as a present:

I just got rid of my Corvette last month and bought my 2nd Mark VIII.
It was a one owner car with only 72,000 miles and it was mint.

Although the Corvette was beautiful, fast, & fun; I just could never get over the overall "cheapness" and lack of quality of the car.

The plastic parts in the interior were cheap, hard plastic more suited to a Chevy Beretta rather than Chevy's supposed "Flag Ship". It rode like a Road Wagon and every little ripple in the pavement would jar your teeth. There were no rain gutters so if it was raining the water just poured into your seat upon opening the door. The seals all leaked water & it creaked & rattled constantly. If you think Mark VIII's have problems you should hang out in the Corvette Forums; you'll thank your lucky stars you have a Mark VIII!!!

I'm biased, obviously.... But if its a 2v navigator engine in a mustang.... walk away.

I'm working on a C4 right now.. but this ones been beat to hell.

Back on topic, ive had many Mustangs, my first was a '67 350 that I inheretted when my grandpa passed away. Ive had a couple 94/95 5.0s, a 96 v6, 00 Saleen S281 and a few others. The only thing I liked about any of them was the outside look, the enteriors of all the ones before 2013 are just garbage

On a plus side thou, parts are easy find, mods are abundant

But like others have stated, Theres too much "me too" factor

I'm biased as well... I'm bored with the mark and having a manual is more appealing to me, hell I own 2 of the damn things. They are both much more problem free for me besides what the previous owner screwed up. The mark is a great car but the money it would cost me to do a manual swap isn't worth it because my car is rusted to crap. That also buys a lot of go fast parts for the cobras... :-)

Considering the lack of mods i dont have, maybe it does run pretty good. :shifty: still though, as it sits stock auto 3 valve>me. If you were close i would take you up on a ride in a fast mark

i've shamed some stangs.. ;) they aren't that slow.
Me too :D My car is just too slow to be competitive with the crowd i run around with. Maybe i need to find slower friends:D
You will got allot more appreciation for making a mark fast then a mustang.
Truth. Its a bit more money though, and you wont go as fast mod for mod as you would with a stang.

Believe me, i keep an eye out for mustangs, and they are painfully common. I dont see very many badass ones though. By the same token ive never seen a badass mark with my own eyes besides my own. sheeit i saw the first mark thats not mine today after about a 2 week dry spell

There is a reason everybody else rocks one.. Cant get away from the 'me too' stigma though

Wont be giving up much ride quality, have a stutmasters :shifty: lol. But you're right, they are easier and cheaper to make fast than a mark. And in my position, getting the fastest on the least amount of money is the name of the game. It sucks having sh!t pay
Drop a Coyote in the Mark. Then you'll be having fun :D

5.4 4 valve> coyote. they are good motors, but still terrible overpriced.
I'm biased, obviously.... But if its a 2v navigator engine in a mustang.... walk away.

I will never sink to that level lol. love me some 2000 cobra r clone

eww you had a v6 mustang?? lol jk. The thing thats really nice about a mustang is all the parts available. Instead of polishing out a ****ty looking headlight, spend 50$ and get a brand new one. I can buy long tube headers from like 5 different companys, buy any kind of wheel i could ever want ( i guess i can now too :shifty::D). the idea of a DOHC 5.4 stang sounds quite appealing though :D

There are only 3 mustangs I would drive..in this order.

68 fastback
04 terminator
Foxbody notchback with a turbo 460 big block

The only one id consider givin up the Mark VIII for is the 68...mustangs are boring, ride like sh&t, and are at every traffic light... *yawn* im bored just talking about them lol

The problem is you're asking a bunch of mark guys what to do... They are always going to say that marks are better but it's a matter of opinion. Go over to SVTP and ask this same question and see what happens. Likewise go over to a f body website and ask about buying a mustang...

Plus, not all mustangs guys are "backwards hat, rev at the stoplight, punk mustang guys with poor taste in visual mods"

I wear my hat the right way (an old Ford trucker hat lol) I will rev at you a small amount but only to say hello, and I feel that my car is tastefully modified.

I hang with a good respectable group down here in southern ohio. We have a Spring and a Fall cruise, either to a wing joint like Quaker Steak & Lube, or the drag strip, or something cool. Met a lot of good friends that I've known for a long time now.

Get in with the right crowd (which it appears you are in) and they are good fun.

I know mustangs like the inside of my eyelids. They're fun and easy to work on. Or you're like me and like tearing them completely apart and do rediculous work on them that nobody else would do (roofskins, core supports, front clips, other sheetmetal, etc) then next thing ya know you can build one with your eyes closed and also help others with theirs.... which I'm a sucker for doing, but I like helping another car guy.

I kinda rambled on, but I don't have the hipster attitude towards them, like the "oh their too popular, that means I can't own one". Screw that, if I like something its not because someone else does/doesnt, its because I do.

I'd rock that for sure!
I'm sure that set up has hurt a lot of people's feelings.

Total sleeper for sure. Even with the sickest exhaust, ppl don't expect that beast under the hood!

Plus, not all mustangs guys are "backwards hat, rev at the stoplight, punk mustang guys with poor taste in visual mods"

I've been a witness to Mustang ownership here in SOUTH FLORIDA throughout my entire life as I've been an Enthusiast since I was in diapers. Back in the 90's & even through the beginning of the 2000's Mustangs were owned by either the young kid with wads of cash or that 50+ year old man that wanted a nice modern hotrod in his garage which I always thought was pretty cool.

In the last 10 years things have changed quite a bit. Every damn low life rafter that comes ashore down here buys either one of the following:

03,04,05 Dodge Charger V6/V8 (which is immediately on 22 inch chrome wheels)
Same year Chrysler 300 (which is immediately on 22 inch chrome wheels as well)

OR

93-99 Mustang GT or Cobra

You don't see any responsible normal human beings on a Mustang down here unless it's a V6 convertible, lol.

I know plenty of responsible younger mustang owners up in NE ohio as well. Yeah I like to have fun with the cars but it wouldnt matter what I was in I would probably antagonize someone with my cars. I have grown up and enjoy when people recognize my Cobras as nice cars. Lots of thumbs up on the highway at cruising speed when people are passing me and even when I have the window down driving through town or leaving a place people will stop and ask about the car. I own them because I like them and have been around them since birth, my dad still has his 67 coupe that was his first car. Depending on what generation you are looking for, they are getting harder and harder to find, I hardly ever see a clean sn95 around anymore and I can appreciate it, the same goes for Marks as well. You have a nice looking mark and if it isnt rusty, you have a good platform to have fun with.

My dream Stang is a 92-93 Fox body trunk with an '03 termi motor in it & a '94-'03 dashboard swap. One hell of a small, light weight son of a b!tch with plenty of power. I'd give up my black on black Mark for this car...

This bad boy:

Lol as you were talking about the interior swap I was thinking what you would use for a door panel since you can't just slap on a 94-04 door panel on a fox body...well it looks like that guy hasn't figured it out either.

I love my mustang. Mines a 95 GT with the 5.0 in it. The interior is amazing, all leather and pretty comfy honestly. Same steering wheel that's in the 93-96 mark viii's, and it rides pretty nice. I'm 17 and love driving my stang, I don't wear a hat at all and if I did it'd be straight lol. I would rev at you just like stang said to say hello or w/e. If your gonna get a 4.6, go with the 99-04 new edg'es, the 96-98 GT's with 4.6 are slow as balls and just to get them peppy you need to do a PI swap. I gotta give the 4.6's credit with the right exhaust they sound sick. 99-04 GT's come stock with around 260hp and 302ft lbs of torque which was underrated by ford, really closer to around 280 hp. Just add some gears, catback, cai, bigger throttlebody, tuner and some D/R's and you got close to a low 13 second high 12 second car. Yes there are a lot of mustangs and most of them do look blah if that persons not a car guy or girl, I've seen a couple mustangs by me that are sick. A couple late 80s notches with built motors, some new edge's, and an obviously worked up 2011 5.0 by my school with D/R's on the back and a bunch of stuff. Just because everyone else has it doesn't mean its gonna be another mustang, you do what you want with it and make it yours. Mustangs are fun without question, and with the right suspension setup and some bolt on's you'll have a really fun car. Oh and you won't have to buy a trak lok if you get a GT, so thats some saved $$$ right there lol. Just my .02
