Thinking the time has come for the old 2000 ls. 160k + miles, going to be showing rust before next spring probably. Hopefully I get a good price, as I want to get into an 05 LSE. or maybe just say f*ck it and go with an older (2002ish) M5. Dunno yet. But I hate paying 25k+ for a car. Seems like I'm pissing my money away (I already do that enough lol.)

Anyways, just a sad thought, since this hasbeen the first car I actually fell in live with before buying. Hate to see her go. We'll see though. I was thinking about keeping it around and modifying it in my spare time since it's paid off now.

Sad to hear but what's wrong with it? Is it just getting to old for you?

dont f*&%ing do it pete

... unless its for a newer LS

im mean, come on, do you really want to start over from scratch?

What were you going to look at getting if you sell, another ls or maybe a new car all together.

You should look at the new volvo s60 they are nice cars or like a lexus is250

the volvo has a great warranty and they are awesome cars, I know some different people who own them and love them. I thnk the first 5 years you own the car you don't pay anything to replace or repair anything on the car

Sell it.
Buy this, before it gets cut up for parts.
Have it shipped.

I have all the contact info.
Rust free FL car, 03 cobra engine swap.

I was looking at this 04 lse for my wife.

They want waaaaay too much. The armrest is broken and they can't even clean up the water spots before taking the picture? What else is wrong? The interior pictures sure look like the car has more than 78K miles. The "finish" is coming off the steering wheel airbag and the side of the console (passenger side). The cowl trim piece zip-tied on?

Maybe price negotiating points.

That's basically what we did. All cosmetic issues were pointed out before purchase, and fixed by the dealership, including the armrest (they swapped in a new one lol).

Pete likes MarkVIII's or so he said once.
Maybe he was pulling my ....leg......
Anyhow
That car could not be built for the asking price.
As far as the appearance department.

I would buy this over a LS :D

I don't think he was looking to downgrade in the appearance department. And we know how much Pete likes his carsmetics.

"carsmetics". I like that

Kirk is right. I'm one of the few that appreciates both models. I like the looks of the LS better, but would not mind having a Mark. Especially with those performance mods.

You know what they say: "looking good ain't going fast, but going fast is looking good!"

How do you like the AMX?
Got to love the window louvers

I can go look at it for ya :)

im just saying, i would trade in my LS in the blink of an eye for a 2nd gen mark with a real terminator!

please tell me it has the 6speed behind it

4r70w still. but its a 98, it can take the abuse.
autos can make very good use of a supercharged engines torque curve with the right stall converter. maybe better than a stick. although a 6 speed would be damn cool and way more fun.

That Mark would be a blast I'm sure. I'd rather have the Cobra motor in a.....Cobra.

I've sworn to myself I will have an 03-04 Cobra before I finish school.

Sorry to hear it, Pete but it's also understandable. 160k is getting up there in the mileage department. I know there's a few here that have a bit more than that, but that's extremely rare nowadays.

I would think anything past 120k puts a lot of cars in the "monthly maintenance" category where you start having major repairs almost on that frequency. I held onto my supercharged Regal for 11 years - did most repairs myself but when I got past 130k the repairs starting getting bigger. I owned the car free and clear for 7 of those 11 years, so I definitely got my money's worth out of it.

That being said, I've never stuck the kind of money into any other daily driver car like I have my 06 LS. I've only owned it 2 years, but I could have had it paid off by now if I didn't do all the mods (but who in their right mind wouldn't want to do THAT ;) ). I've also never loved a daily driver as much as I love my LS. I've ridden or driven newer cars and it still doesn't compare to driving my baby. I fully intend to go another 6 or 7 years if at all possible, and my son (now 10) has made it clear that if the car is still around when he gets his license then it's gonna be his.

No matter what you decide to do, you've had an amazing journey with it and definitely created a lot of memories - and those end up being priceless.

Change is good. When it's time to move on, just move on.

Even with its share of problems, the LS is a great car, though it is on the endangered species list with a steadily decreasing population, IMO.
