Wiring aside, I've read that the Thunderbird front seats will bolt into the Mark VIII without issue.

What about the back seats?

Don't the earlier Thunderbirds and SuperCoupes have the folding rear seats that provide trunk access? Will these swap into the Mark VIII or are the interiors too different?

I don't think the Supercoupes ever had a trunk access. I owned an 89 XR-7 and I never had that. Anyway, I;m pretty sure the Supercoupe rear seats will fit right in there. I considered that swap to replace my worn rear seast in my Mark VIII before selling it. Plus, I like the sporty leather/ cloth combination. Reminds me of my old Mark VII seats.

any trunk access would be worthless due to the X bracing behind the seats.

ok lets see, birds do have a fold down arm wrest, havent seen trunk access through it though, and it will fit, mostlly, we are putting markviii seats into midwestbird's thunderbird, the back is allready in (and has been for a while) the only difference was that the viii seat bottom was a little too short (i think) it all worked just instead of it overhaninging the vertical part of the floor its flush (most wouldent even notice)

Yes as stated there is no armrest or fold down access to trunk.

My mistake... I must have been thinking of the armrest.

And my wet noodle framed Mark VIII still has the X bracing behind the seat, but one of them actually broke on me. The metal then proceeded to rub a hole in my air line hose. It was a pain in the rear.

Ive got a 94' mark. I wanted to have trunk access also to have one of my subs facing into the car. So i made my seats able to fold down. Took out the x brace. Worked out pretty good.

I know a member who rarely posts who removed his X bracing and added horizontal support to compensate. He's building a fiberglass enclosure for subs, deleted the complete rear seat. But, it's very possible with little effort. I think he said he had to call eddie and extend an airline for the suspension, since it followed down a crossbrace. Airline is cheap, connectors are like $3/pc.

As far as fold down rear seats in the thunderbird, they did/do exist. I had them in my red supercoupe. I trailered the car to columbus ohio from Iowa and traded it for my black one and that's how I got in and out of the car since the rails of the trailer (not a car hauler) wouldn't allow the doors to open.

On my black one, I had fold down arm rest.

The arm rest option didn't allow for fold down seats.

You only get the fold down option without armrest.

For the record, the '91 Supercoupe did have trunk access. I found one in the junk yard and confirmed it...

The front seats were trashed, so I didn't take them.

In case you missed the post by posting simultaneously. .. .

go take a look under a new style t-bird and look at the bracing it has compared to the LS. when i get my car shipped up here ill be attempting to replicate it.

All the the thunderbird supercoupes have the 60/40 fold seats, the lx and the sport versions does not. They were made from 1989 to 1995, and I know this because I have had 6 lx models.

Nope they all had the 60/40 option that was only available on the SCs, especially the 35th edition Im quite sure of it. But either way post some pics of this swap, I would like to see hoew it turns out.

Both sides fold down on the 60/40s there is a pull tag at the top of both seats. Sorry did not mean to give you stuff you already know. there is not much that I dont know about these cars, they are my favorites next to the MarkVIII.
