driving to work this morning, running a little late, i catch a light w/ a black, stock looking (stock wheels for sure), caddillac sts v8. at first i couldnt tell if he was pushing it but then quickly realized it when he tried pulling on me. 1st run - easily 2 - 2 1/2 cars. 2nd run- a/c off now, 2 1/2 cars again.

to his credit, he had a passenger, i did not.

to mine, i have 20's, and two heavy ass 12's w/ box and amp.

it was a great start to a long, hot ass, 100+ degree day...

The a/c cut out automatically under full acceleration.

Just how does 20's, and two heavy ass 12's w/ box and amp reduce acceleration times?

Because the weight of 20" chromes = very heavy , subs and amp = very heavy

MORE WEIGHT= SLOWER ACCELERATION

lol i wasn't man... just caplocks were on. I was being very sacarastic if you couldn't tell

A little off topic but i was surprised to read for the first time today the sticker on the inside driver door jam regarding weight capacity. It says 900 lbs max. for passengers and cargo combined. Thats not too much. Add a couple humans in addition to whatever might be in the trunk and it adds up.

i was messing around next to a charger tonight after work but i didn't hit it down too much cause i was on a road cops love to hang out on.

wow. for real? i thought you were joking.

stock charger w/ the v8? we might be able to hang w/...
but i wouldnt doubt we'd get demolished w/ an srt8 charger/magnum/300/anything...

Really? Do you think we could hang with the 5.7, 345hp V8 in one of those?

Just curious, cause I 've wondered about that, as well.

Alot of people confuse the HEMIs as being the same. The 5.7 will not kill a LS, while it will beat most, not all of us. They seem to run mid 14s when I've seen them at the track which is what I'm currently running. I think they have potential to be faster...just saying what I've seen.

The SRT8s move quite well for a big azz boat.

If your talking about the newest generation 4.6 L STS V8 (2005+) there is no way in hell you beat him. Maybe you have it confused with the 3.6L V6 since the only thing to discern them is the small V8 Northstar badge on the trunklid and even then you'd be hard pressed. I don't even think a 2000 LS V8 would beat a 1997-2004 Seville STS by 2 1/2 cars either if you mean those years, maybe an SLS.

Stock 0-60 for a 2000 LS V8 is 7.5 seconds
Stock 0-60 for a 2003+LS V8 is 6.5 seconds
Stock 0-60 for a 2005+ STS V8 is 6.2 seconds
Stock 0-60 for a 2005+ STS V6 is 7.0 seconds

My 1998 Seville STS with 140,000k on it falls no less than a half a car behind my 2003 LS V8 with 40k on it when we tried once.

So I find it hard to beleive he was racing you or trying.

I believe the 7.5 for the 00-02 to be really underated. 7.0 stock IMO.

Probably the 3.6 thou.

But we race our mouths in forums? Last time I checked, my 98 Seville easily stayed front bumper to rear bumper with my 03 LS V8 and would've pulled ahead if we kept on, so I fail to see were an 00 LS with 70 less horse than a 2005+ STS V8 is winning by 2 1/2 cars.

I'm not ragging on the LS but I just plain don't ever see it happening. I know a lot of "on paper" 0-60 times aren't actual facts, they are just calculated out.

Yeah it probably was the 3.6. People get easily confused by that thinking all Sevilles/STS' are V8s since thats how they used to be. Again only a little badge on the trunklid discerns that it has the 4.6 Northstar over the 3.6.

I would be more than happy to back up my words and put my 98 Seville against an 00-02 LS in the 1/4.

Don't get me wrong, my words were that I am not saying I will win, I am saying that an 00 LS won't by 2 1/2 cars. Especially against an 05+ STS V8. I honestly don't know who would pull ahead. Anyone local? I'd be more than happy just to see the outcome. Whether you have a flashed ecu, intake, exhaust....whatever.

I think it'd be a great race.

raced a complete stock 2001 Acura 3.2 CL Type-S from 40mph - 100mph. i didn't use the sst. just simply dropped the pedal. it could barely pull half a car length on me for the win. no disappointment

^ forgot to mention it was definitely not a new sts. older more boxy style sts. and you know what, i pretty much assumed it was a v8, didnt get a badge check. this makes this whole post pretty much worthless.

my bad. -pwr2killayak.
