Mark 8 Back glass weatherstrip

My 95 has most likely curled sometime in it's lifetime.
What they've done is they cut the weatherstrip in half and then mounted an aftermarket weatherstrip side by side to the original that is cut in half.
Looks good on distance and looks terrible up close.
But to be honest, I'd rather have that than a lasagne on the rear window.

Forget used. Last time I checked about a year ago the rear window was still available from Ford for around $400. Part number F7LZ-6342006-AA.
If that fails, auto glass shops still can get them them, but check around. I was quoted everything from $600 to $1200 two years ago! That's for new glass BTW.

Some crazy prices for back windows. I was quoted $450 OTD, brand new part, 'lifetime' labor warranty on their seal job. Decided not to because it's just ugly, not leaking yet and I don't have the money.

.. no heat, no electricity

Just lift the edge of the trim, poke knife thru.

Then poke knife thru some more... and slide

That depends on how much you like your tint guy I guess...

Tinting the rear glass is MUCH easier to do with it out... soooo ... uuuuuuuh.... uh huh

When I had a window removed from the 94 and was replacing with the 93 back in 2009, the glass man came out and removed them both with a reciprocating saw that had a putty knife on the end and he had it out within 15 min. Now with the 95 I have now, that's a new back window from Ford.

It never gets any sun abuse so, it should last for as long as I have the car and I suggest getting a new glass if you plan to keep the car for good. If not, fix it cheap.

How did you manage to use that knife to cut the seal without scratching the paint at the edge of the c pillar? Sure it would be covered by the trim if you did scratch it but then you'd have to worry about it rusting underneath.

Because I'm careful with what I'm doing. And any good glass shop will use their primer in the seal track anyway.
