Manual Gas door release broken. Help plz

So I bought a 2002 Lincoln LS real cheap. I was expecting to work on it so I was expecting problems. I found out my gas door does not open so I pulled the manual release and it came out without any effort. I took the latch on the gas door off so I can pull the gas door open. But I would like to fix it. Has anyone had any experience replacing the gas door release things to include the "pull cables"? Thanks for any advice you guys give me.

so first, got no help on the manual release pulling out, but is the reason that it doesn't pop open because the motor isn't "popping" when the button is pressed, or do you hear it "popping" but the spring is broke and not kicking the door open while the latch is released?

if its the latter, then you need a new spring.

When I press the button I don't hear a pop or anything. I had my wife look at the latch when I press the button but the latch doesn't move. At first I had to pry the door to get it semi open then I pushed the latch with a plastic crowbar to get it open.So I would need a new motor? If so where is is located? Thank for the response.
