So i went to a place where they make a copy of keys....they said they couldn't do it for my car....So where can i get a copy of my key....

Probably at a dealership because ls keys have to be programmed, when i went they quoted me $100 dollars.

order the key on ebay i got my 2 keys from him for 23.00 shipped his user id on ebay is chapstick4 but ford focus and escape and ls share the same key

Is that both keys for 23.00 or 23 each. I need to order a set myself, now that we are on that subject. Hey tubby, how much was it when you got the key cut?

If you already have 2 working keys for the car and you need a 3rd you can buy the key(s) and have it cut and program it yourself.

Hmm.. I thought that was only for the fobs? Key is a bit different I would imagine.

PATS keys are very easy to program IF you have two working keys, if you only have 1 the dealership will have to program it

cost of keys at the dealership hear is $25 per key and programming is $40 for up to four keys

if you have two keys then just have the pats key cut only then

(1) insert first programed key and turn ignition on(dont start) and wait for the PATS light to turn off

(2) after PATS light turns off, quickly repeate with 2nd programmed key

(3) after PATS light turns off, quickly insert 3rd key (unprogrammed key) and start the car, key is now programmed

All I know is that the dealership made like 5 or 6 copies of my key and never did get them to work. I still need a copy made but don't have any faith in that dealership.

Very good to know, maybe I should pick up a couple and "stock up" while I still have 2 good keys. :)

along with a couple other people here, i keep the two orignal keys at my house just in case i lose my normal key, i will always be able to program a new one.

if you only have 1 key...go to the locksmith at sears and you can get 2 keys for 140$ and thats at every sears nationwide...

i work at sears so i know && and thats where i got my 2 extras from...

You have to have two previously programed key's to add more key's.

no you dont....i had 1 key, thats it...he made another and programmed with a machine that went in the code check thingy and then the second one he just stuck it in the ignition and turned it...let it sit for 5 minutes and that was it...its not misson impossible

but for 2 more keys,,,,how much is 2 at the dealer?...way past 140 im positive because 1 key costs 78$...thats already over the price just to buy 2 keys lol

I just had 2 keys made at the dealer a few months ago. 15 bucks a piece.

Whoever would pay 78 bucks for just a key is getting bent over the service counter.

what Pektel said!!!

The keys are only $26.95 retail!! we charge 45.00 to program however many.
so..... 50 for 2 keys 45 to prog= 95.00

UNLESS of course it is a "keyfob" key then it could be 78.00!!

ya i have seen places use a key cloner

the only thing with the "cloned" keys is that the "code" is copied so you cant use the keys to program more keys or program a remotestart bypass (you can still do the old school "keep a key under your dash" but who wants to do that)

even if the dealership was more expensive (which its not see post #7 and #17) it is still better because you need two propperly programmed keys to make your own
