When i bought the car Dec 07', of course i washed the car and it never gave me a fogging issue in the headlights. Recently when i wash my car my driver side headlight fogs up a little bit ONLY when i use cold water to wash my car. Why all of a sudden it decides to fog now i dont know. The fogging clears up in a couple of days but it gets annoying. I either have to park my car is direct sunlight or drive with my lights on all the time to get rid of the moisture.

I don't see any damage done to the headlight ... Anyone know what might be causing this problem? My friend and i are going to bake the headlights to remove the amber lense soon anyway, he said it might be my light bulb is loose and moisture is getting in there, but i never touched the headlight bulbs since i got the car, i will this week HID's are coming in ! finally haha.

But i know a lot of you guys have this issue, main reason?

very very common problem. over time they lights just get leaks. what i suggest you do is when you put your lights back together after you remove the amber lenses just seal the crap out of them. also, check that there is nothing loose by where the lights plug in, around that area. also, there are small rubber black boots to release moisture, make sure that's not ripped. use aquarium sealant, it's the best i think

Hmmm +1..

I have removed the amber and also resealed them. Sadly once wasn't enough :'( I once again resealed them and I noticed the other day that my passenger one is leaking a bit again. Crappy.

I would make sure that they are nice and good before you put some HID's in there. Those bulbs are expensive and I would imagine VERY susceptible to water...

I used black RTV sealant. I would recommend coating those badboys a few times over. Apply dry, and apply again..

Just my .02 I hate doing things over and over again.

pull off the rubber trim around the top part of head;ight. it is the rubber that seals up against the hood. when this is off the rtv can seal properly. use your finger to smooth it out and make sure there are no voids. then you can double side tape the rubber back on after the sealent seals up

I sealed underneath it, just coated that SOB. Pretty much sealed the rubber to the housing itself as well.. but your idea is good :)

Check the rubber boots around the bulbs and like your buddy said check the bulbs themselves. Make sure they are in the right way and make sure the o ring is on them.

Really with the gray glue you shouldn't have to use extra sealant If you clean it up enough and seal it properly the gray glue should be enough but its always good measurement to add a bead anyway.

Thats just what I read from Ken@LSK here on the forums before. Also saw it on HID Planet. I always just add that extra bead myself.

Try your best when putting it back together to make sure the glue is not clumped up and all. That will bring more possibilities of moisture getting in.

Hmm, this sucks .. Hopefully once i take them apart and reseal them, nothing will happen !

Thanks guys.

from my experience once the water is in there, it is in there. They appear to be clearing up when in actuality the water is just moving away from the lense so you can't see it. On mine I took them apart and dumped what seemed like a gallon of water out. Resealed and everything has been perfectly clear since.

i did my lenses, same damn problem. ive resealed them 2 times. i dunno where the water is getting in. my fingers hurt from messing with the RTV package though. crap doesnt like to come out!

basically i did a "add it to the list and just keep saying one day ill fix it" lol.

Grey Sealant??

i just took mine apart a few minutes ago and it was a bitch. I have gen 2 headlights and halos and it was crazy to get apart. i need to know where to get the grey sealent that when warm can be pulled apart so i dont have to fight these anymore. anyone know??

Take into consideration the relative humidity where you live at the time you glue them back together.

I got my car back from the body shop last week. I noticed immediately the passenger side HID is fogging up. Yesterday when I went to turn on the headlights, the normal beam didn't turn on. What are my options at this point? It's still foggy with a lot of moisture.

i had that problem a while ago, my drivers side would fog up when i washed my car as well. i took my head lights off the car, stuck a blow dryer on the head light hole for about and hour, used some motorcycle detailing swabs ( like huge q-tips) and made sure i got all the water spots out of the inside of the lens and then sealed around the botton of the lamp with just some all purpose sealent. worked perfectly and havent had a problem since.
