Ok so I wanna install a custom exhaust system into my 2005 LS V8. I seen some videos of magnaflows vs. flowmasters...It sounds like Flowmaster has the deeper sound that I'm looking for. Am I right or am I just hearing it wrong? Need opinions....

Save the Flows for the 5.0s. I had the American Thunders on my 87 LSC and it was stupid loud...and they flowed for crap. I then swapped them out for some Dynomax Ultra Flos and could actually feel the car pull harder in the upper RPMs.

You can get a deep sound with Magnaflows, too. It's all in how you set it up and the size of the mufflers, i.e. running a Magnaflow muffler in place of the resonators with no mufflers out back. NickT88LSCs car has just a longer "mid" muffler and it sounds pretty damn good. Not like a small 3.9 at all.

If you went with the size mid muffler I had on there before I took it out, with no mufflers out back, it would be pretty growly. Not sure on the size that was in there, think it was 14" long or so?

EDIT: found the info on the muffler I had in there - 11 inches long, 4 inches high and about 8.5 inches wide.

+1 on using the flowmasters over the magnaflows. I have 40 series flowmaster in place of my factory mufflers (still have resonators). I don't think that magnaflows sound right on a 4 valve engine unless it has a X-pipe instead of a H-pipe. My roommate had a cobra and bought some magnaflow mufflers for it and put them on and it sounded all raspy like the videos of the LS's with magnaflow mufflers. He put a X-pipe on his car and it sounded like a totally different car and lost the raspy sound. Flowmasters are probably going to produce a deeper sound. I am about to put a X-pipe on my car and will post a sound clip when I do. Good Luck

Surprised no one mentioned that they will all sound the same in the end anyway so why make it such a big deal,....hahaha just choose one.

Dude, get the N1 mufflers...

I kinda get the feeling you are TRYING to make fun of me again. I thought that kid crap was over but I guess not. I see you still have the peanut gallery with you too.

huh? you must've missed a couple weeks here. The N1 muffler jab was about a totally different discussion.

Wow. It never ends. His peanuts haven't dropped yet.

I got your peanut gallery right here.
Chill man, I am sorry I just a misunderstood what pektel said

Oh alright, my bad, I have been away for a few weeks. School started back so I am busy with that and haven't been on that much. Sorry it just sounded like that was a jab at me. Once again sorry Pektel and NYC

What a looser.

This long and you still cant take jokes?

It was all in fun till you ruined it. BTW that POS non sport you have ain't ever gunna look good and if thats the point your getting at then I agree.

At least I know I don't have to photoshop a picture of my car to make it look good like you have to.

Thanks for complimenting my editing skills.

LSTYLE, I have the complete Magnaflow kit and it sounds great. IMO way better than flow masters.

One thing is that custom jobs can go a long way and it never hurts to do something new if you know what I mean.

I as well as many others say that mine looks better than yours so I will just keep driving my POS non sport LS that looks better than yours. If mine is a turd and looks better than yours then what would yours be DIARRHEA???

Magnaflows are they way to go. My Cobra has them as well as my buddies Mark Lt. They sound great and I think they hold up better than Flowmaster.

search flowmaster flow charts on google... Flowmaster has the most restrictive MUFFLER made today!

Regarding your comment about Flowmaster:

I can't believe I'm going to say this...

I agree with lincoln00!

(Who woulda thought?)
