Hey guys I'm ready to replace my cats, but I need some help. "New" tranny is going in tomorrow, along with a transgo shift kit, and i just want my LS to run as good as ever when i get it back. Going to be getting a set of Visteon Coils, new plugs, cats, and hopefully tips.

Here's what I need from you Guys:
1) Can anyone confirm if these would fit? or be made to fit?

2) Would there be any problems if i tried to go with the 2.5" cats above? I plan to upgrade to 2.5" piping later on so i thought i might as well get the 2.5" cats already?

3) Is replacing VCGS absolutely necessary? I dont know when they were last replaced, but i've never had any issues with oil in the coil wells or anything.

I would never put a shift kit in a "new" trans. Any problems on first drive and you will wonder was it the "shift kit". I would put trans in make sure it shifts fine for a week then make changes. But thats just me.
 
good point, and I agree. But it doesn't really make sense for me because I dont have the expertise or tools to do the work myself :(
 
Thats cool. As for your other ? going to a 2.5 inch cat is no big deal. I was going to put (2) 3 inch cats on my 2.5 exh on my mk8 cuz I got one free. Just bigger core area to flow better thru.
 
She's getting operated on as we speak. Decided against the shift kit for now. Thanks Right on Mark my mechanic recommended same thing you did.
 
Any more input guys?

I want to place my order today...hard to believe i'm only getting help from a Mark guy.
 
havent messed with my cats yet, but cant imagine it would be a problem... unless you have to do inspections... then you might (i dont)... I'f you do, muffler shops could prob. tell you if it would be an issue.... I'd do it if it was my car, and in Kansas

Either cat size could be made to fit easily enough!

Great! I was more worried about the length and width. I don't know the specs of the stock one so i was concerned.

Luckily my car is inspected until late 2013 so no worries in that department.

Mlara,

My biggest concern is the O2 sensors threading in, the front ones are a little bigger, I think the threads are the same but I am not sure.

If you have any issues let us know
 
I dunno if anyone really answered your VCG question but you shouldn't have to replace them until you get oil in the plugs wells. Probly wouldn't be a bad idea to just do them to prevent future problems but if your strapped for $$ just wait. BUT then it might be to late and you might have to sacrifice a coil ... or 8

just got back from meineke and they wouldnt put my cats in. They told me i need a direct fit.

any recommendations?
 
i going try other places then. I just thought that if anyone could/would do it, it would be meineke.
