looking to get a magnaflow for my LS6,

edit : i meant magnaflow, any good deals on maybe just the mufflers or something ?

I know Borla made a cat back system for the retro Thunderbird, does it fit the LS as well? A lot of Tbirds have the Borla cat back.

What are you looking to spend what is the sound you want? That is the determining factors on what you will buy

like the sound of magnaflows , want a nice low tone and the least amount of raspy, high pitch i can get with a 3.0. same reason i have borlas on my gtp.

YouTube is your friend. I think there's even an exhaust sound thread on here.

I chose Pype's 409 SS Race Pro mufflers and hand fabbed a 2.25" X pipe and 2.5" SS pipe the rest of the way.

After a couple weeks the tone has gotten deeper and I can hear it slightly over the wind noise at speed but it still doesn't attract too much attention.

video of a 3.9V8 isnt going to help me dial in the sound i want for my 3.0V6, but thanks ive checked out youtube and magnaflow is prettymuch what ive landed on, not much other deep sound options for a v6 out there.

So search for 3.0 duratec sound clips. Simple.

3.0l, run some 2" mandrel bent pipe and go into a 2.25" perf core muffler. Smaller pipe for higher velocity so you don't lose torque. Perf core muffler to high pitch tones out of it. It'll probably warble a bit up high under WOT but should sound pleasant the rest of the time. Add a true 'X' crossover to help scavenge the opposing bank. There's only two pipe bends after the 'X' so you won't lose anything there if you use mandrel bends.

I'm running Magnaflow's and an X pipe... no raspyness on my V6.

I will try and upload an exhaust video later tonight.

Ranchero,
Hope you don't take it the wrong way, but i can't hear your exhaust at all, not even with headphones. Sounds no different than stock to me.

Maybe its because i've gotten used to my exhaust(s). Obviously my Bassanis, and even my magnaflows with resonators could be heard much more.

Anyway OP, i'd recommend the magnaflow catback. Pricey but totally worth IMO. No better example than this for a v6:

I know  It is louder now that it's been run for a couple weeks. I'll have to try and get a better video of it. Pretty wild since other than the cat's it's a open pipe. I should have done it in 2.25 all the way back as I get no flow at idle, just some heat out the pipes.

what model # are the mufflers, i know some places sell just the mufflers very cheap, i can have all the bends made and all that jazz not wanting to pay $800 for a pretty exhaust that ill never see unless im changing my oil

This is four 2.5" J bends, 10' of 2.5" pipe, two Pype's Race Pro mufflers and one 2.25" J bend that I turned into an 'X' pipe. 409 ss everything for around $350 in materials.

The 3.9l uses 2.25" pipe after the cats so I just used a pair of butt connection band clamps to couple my cat-back to the cat pipes. Other than a bandsaw and belt sander to cut / fit the cut ends it took some extra jackstands and plenty of patience.

Here's the rest of the write up:
