Lucas Vs. Royal Purple

I noticed at my local auto part store, Lucas is now selling synthetic motor oil. It was the same price as Royal Purple. Has anyone used Lucas motor oil? Is it the same as Mobil 1 or Royal Purple?
 
and Royal Purple is junk in my opinion. They started making it right up the road from the town i grew up in. Look at the ams oil charts, Ams Oil is one of those companies that does a ton of scientific research on stuff before the product is released. Kind of like Banks for diesels.

But according to all the research, Mobile 1 is next in line to Ams Oil.

Afterall, Ams oil did pioneer the idea of Synthetics so they must have their ducks in a row..
 
oh no, not another amsoil fanboy. RP is great stuff, but its WAY too expensive IMO. i will stick to cheap rotella in my cars.
 
I would recomend any of the 3 before lucas. Lucas seems to have way to many of the snake oil products out there.

It could simply be a synthetic oil stabilizer, they have been pushing that out to retailers' shelves as a complement to their core product, which is the heavy duty oil stabilizer.

If amsoil is so great, why isn't it on the shelf at my local parts house? And where is their SAE certification?

I'll second that, I have never seen Amsoil on a shelf, why is that?

I have used RP, Castroil and Mobile One and Lucas, all full synthetics and a good filter (not the F word) and have never had a problem or seen any difference in performance, mileage, etc. I change the oil before it gets below 20% even though that can be as little as 1500 miles since the last change, and never had to add a quart between fills.

I personally have not experianced anything "bad" with lucas products and I have been using them for a long time, in my engines, turbo's, trannys, rear ends.

I've had quiet the opposite with Lucas in my SRT motor EGT's were actually reduced a few degrees after adding lucas.

You are wasting your money. Any modern conventional oil can go 5000 miles easy, synthetic can go for longer than that.
 
the carquest by me carries amsoil. They are a private company though and vend through private dealers. There is like 3 within a 15 mile radius of me.

I know I don't have to change it so often, I just feel better when I change it...I have a data logger and do lots of short trips (less than 2 miles), and have to 'jockey' cars around my property to get to ones I drive, so I rationalize the whole thing by changing my oil more than I need to-I am getting better at going at going longer between changes, honest.:shifty:
