nun ya
I just bought a LSE rear surround painted to match my LS. Brand new in box for 100.00 bucks. Should have it on the car sometime this week. But this goes to show there are good deals always around. Now i'm just waiting to find the LSE body kit, I already have the 06 grille.

I'm not looking for thr kit just yet, i get certain things if I come across them by chance. I have a 2000, but i'm pretty sure the 04-06 kit will fit with some modification. I assume you have a kit laying around.

No but good luck on finding the Gen 1 LSE kit. It's been discontinued. I use to want one and searched high and low. I'm getting ready to do the 06 LSE front end swap on my LS in a couple of months. I have a 01. From what I researched, the second Gen LSE kit won't fit on a first Gen. Haven't seen anyone modified it yet. I was considering it but to make it work on the rear bumper, I'll have to change the rear bumper and if I'm not mistaken, you have to change the trunk too in order for the 03 and up bumpers to work. This is what I got from lskoncepts: http://www.lskoncepts.com/store/20032006-lincoln-lse-full-body-kit-p-192.php

I don't know about the trunk, but I know you need the 2nd gen headlights for the 06 bumber to fit on the 1st gen. I don't know why you would have to swap trunk lids though, I know the quarter panels are the same on all years and thought the trunk lined up with it. And I have heard of people swapping the 06 surround onto 1st gen trunks. I think the clips and bolt holes on the bumber lines up differently. You should start a new thread for that one.

You don't need the 06 headlights to make the 06 bumper fit, the lights just closes up the gap between the bumper and the first Gen headlights. People have done it without swapping the headlights and just filled in the gap. I'm personally though is planning on getting the 03 and up headlights. Talked to the guys at Teamford and they said they might can get them for a good price. See here: http://www.lskoncepts.com/store/20032006-lincoln-lse-front-fascia-kit-p-112.php

Painting my rear surround was probably the best mod I did.

Btw, I have an extra 2003-2006 chrome rear surround for sale if anyone is interested or wants to give it a nice painting. PM me.

Not at all.

The 2nd Gen surrounds taper at the bottom where the 1st Gens taper at the top. The inner tail lights are smaller as far as width.

Swap out the entire trunk and bumper and its the only way.

Nice find BTW.

That's what I noticed too about the difference in the surrounds. Yea swapping out the trunk and bumper is the only way from what I've learned. Pretty expensive unless you come across them used somewhere.

Ok just found something very interesting. Look at the attached link. This guy put an 05 LSE bumper on his 01 but kept the 01 trunk. Appears to me you can get away with just swapping the bumpers instead of doing both trunk and bumper. I was under the assumption that one wouldn't work without the other. Learn something new everyday. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3246396

Well if you go on CD then ask him how he did it.

Looks to me like he made cut outs and put the 03+ rear valance on. The LSE for that Generation is still set up the same way as the 2nd Gen basic models so I dont know how else he could have done it.

Find out for us.

I see now. Its off big time. Look at the bottom of the surround. Like I said, they taper in different directions.

Yea I see what you are talking about. The surround doesn't fit in between that space on the bumper.

WOnder if you have to switch the entire trunk lid or if you could get away with swapping the surrounds. I know where a 2nd gen trunk lid is not to far from me for sale. And there is also a 2nd gen bumber on ebay for 170 i believe. The surround I did buy is for a 02 LSE so it should fit just fine on my car, but that spacing does look bad on that black LS.

I just noticed also that he has a 1st gen bumber on that car and you can see the gaps under the headlights, that I was talking about earlier.

The LSE/painted to match car color rear surround is a great upgrade! It cleans up how the car look from back.:D

Yea mine will be on next week although I have a non sport so I will have the chrome on the bumber still.

You know, getting rid of the chrome on the grille and surround might actually make those non-sports look ok:D

I still think some one should get those trim pieces on the bumper Jetted in black chrome.

Well I'm not gonna go with the black but if I had a black LS then I might go for it. But the front grille swap to the 06 grille and the clear side markers do make the chrome trim on the front way more tolerable. I got a good deal on this Ls and thats why the chrome didn't bother me at the time. It was 6 grand and had 52,000 miles and that was in july of 08. Now its august of 09 and it has 87,000. I was gonna sell it but now I think I'm gonna buy a junker for work and clean this one back up.

Don't think it's possible. Like J Werner said, the two surrounds are tapered differently and if you swap the trunk, you will have to to do the bumper. The lines won't line up right and it won't look right. I researched this thread because I remember that a member did it. http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=39088

I'm not gonna do the whole conversion, just adding the surround when it gets here. It is a 02 lse surround and I have a 2000 so it will work fine. I will get pics up when its on here and the front also.

Yea that will work, because to do that whole conversion is very expensive. The trunk alone is $1200 somthing dollars by itself let alone the bumper and other components you may have to buy. The only reason that I had thought about doing it was because I like the cutouts in the bumper for the pipes. I'm going to keep a look out for an 02 LSE rear bumper, if I can find one then that will seal the deal for what I want to do along with my front end conversion swap.
