Here are the pics of it installed, took pics of the 06 grille as well as the clear markers which I think look better with the chrome strip in the bumber than the orange.

Thanks, I like that clean look now for a non sport bumper and LSE front, in due time though.
 
I really like painted rear surrounds. No matter what color LS.

Looks good.
 
what kind of prep did you take with the chrome? did you sand it all off or what?

no I bought it off an LSE, It is solid silver all the way through. The stock one was black and chrome on the back like it is on the front. But the one problem I did have was the top thread under the Lincoln emblem was broken off so I had to Epoxy it back on. It took a little longer due to that, but I might sell my stock one if someone wants to sand one down. I saw an 03 stock and 02 stock surround today if anyone is interested.
 
Why are there such odd common problems with the LS?

My rear surround has the bolt busted off under the emblem also. So are a few other members!


Now you know what I would do? This is just me but I would get rid of the chrome on that grille and the chrome bumpers would look way better!

I looked at that but the only grille I know of with no chrome is a Mclaren. And there is no way i'm going back to stock. I'm thinking of pulling the lights apart and removing the amber lens and painting the bezel silver. Thanks for the good comments. Jwerner keep me posted on the grille you are working on. Are you keeping the center black?
 
An all silver grille?? hmm, Well those rims you have would look better now with less chrome. I like the grille I have now, I still plan on doing a LSE nose or 06 nose and the rest of the kit also.

Yup, I thought the chrome on the Gen 2 LSE would grow on me but Im still not digging it much and rather than paint it I might trade/sell it for something as is.


I like the 1st gen LSE grilles but it would look odd on a silver car with silver wheels and all. IMO, the black adds depth and a bit ore of a sporty aggressive feature.

i have to agree, the chrome doesnt go with everything else you have done to your car, wheels and smoked lenses especially. a black center grille would look nice with a color matched surround would be killer. just my opinion
 
I think the Mclaren grille would look good on there. I know they are hard to come by though. The swap meet at Englishtown is coming up and I will have my eyes open for any LS stuff.
 
I sold one to Kwazy. Didnt like it, almost to sporty. Maybe if I had a darker color silver or something like a graphite color car.
 
When is your custom job gonna be done? And I have that spare chrome surround laying here if you need one or wanna experiment.

Im taking my time on it. I dont know, maybe by late next week. I gotta order more paint from paintscratch.com and this fiberglass resin isnt working so swell on the center of the grille.

Almost like there isnt enough space to lay a uniform piece of mat down with out the fraying edges hanging over the center.

I might consider it.

Can you post pics?

I just added some of the bezels to the sale thread.
