Ok, I'm at my local Lincoln dealership, talking with my sales guy, and he's telling me about one of his co-workers son. The kid appearently has an LS with about 400hp. This is in Snellville Georgia. Two things, is this possible, or rather likely, and also, if you are on this website, let me know, I'd love to see your car!

that is the best guess for the limit on stock internals.

the engineers tell us that the trannie is good for around 360hp....

I ran a 100shot a couple of times - so that should have put me near 380hp..

The guy said he wasn't running NO2 though. It may be a farce, but if it's true I'd love to talk to the guy.

I don't think so. Maybe forced induction, but I doubt it. Even with the sct flasher, intake, exhaust, it isn't even close to 400. Camshaft maybe, port and polished heads, new fuel injectors?

Anybody know about how much hp mikepietras had with his rear mounted turbo? I think turbo or supercharging is the only way to come close to 400.

Your answer is right inside your statement... Your at a dealership talking to a sales guy. OF COURSE his son or someone he knows runs unbelievable numbers with aftermarket upgrades and not NOS and gets huge horse power out of a car you love.

Sounds like pre-sale techniques to me, i've been around enough sales guys for the past too many years and cars are just another product.

I would concour with Jay, something smells fishy to me! Stir clear of salesmen with big hair and even bigger egos. HAHA

Hey OhioLS I didn't forget you, i'll be calling tonight, SORRY!!!! things are just so hectic lately..

P.S - I agree about the big hair and egos, don't forget about the whiter than white teeth they sport!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHA *owned*

Sorry, I dind't explain the situation well enough. This was the other week. I was just in checking out a Navigator on the lot. He had no reason to lie to me, because he had already gotten screwed on the car because I talked his manager down so far. I bought my LS almost a year ago or something like that.

Haha, and actually the guy is half bald with the nastiest teeth I've seen. But I saw a sucker so I chose him for my salesman.

Yeah I remember one dealer telling me my 94 F250 supercab 4x4 with 4.10 gears and 460 engine would get between 15 and 18mpg. Another also told me that the Ranger with V6 would be able to tow my 8,000# trailer.

Dealers rarely know what they are talking about. It is usually a friend of a friend etc they are talking about.

Still, anything is possible with an engine if you have the money and the guts to deal with the tradeoffs. The Ricers prove that. Some of those little bumble bee engines put our a lot of horsepower, for a little while anyway.

Heck I forget the exact figure, but there were a few Small block Chevies back in the 80s that were putting out near 2,000hp, at least for a little while. They were not streetable.

I know nothing almost about the LS V8 internals but my guess is that it is pretty optimized as far as a factory engine goes. In my opinion it is a pretty stressed out little engine as it is.

You could probably get a few tens of horses from the simple tricks. If you could get a cam that was a bit more radical, maybe that would get you up there. But unless you wanted to do some serious work and alter the driveability a lot, you probably would be hard pressed to get more than say 50 more horses. Forced induction is probably the way to go assuming the bottom end is up to it.

Undoubtedly you could get near 400, the question is would you want to drive it daily and would it last. If someone does have the "formula" for a reliable streetable 400 horses, it would be great if they posted it. I would like a little more out of my LS too.

Just my opinion,

Jim Henderson

Actually most people don't, not just salesmen. :) Some of the stories I hear when I go to the local hang out here... The more years I invest in the the hobby and the more I do, the more I realize how much sh!t flies out there. On top of that, nobody likes to hear from someone who does know what they are talking about. That's the funny part.

thats the truth, on saturday i was getting my car washed at my old job, and these kids were talking to each other about my car (i pulled my car around in front of em, so they didnt see the make and model), and saying its a BMW, and all this other stuff, like its a new one that a bigger versionn of a m3 :Bang :Bang . i just sat back and laughed, these kids were talking all numbers;0-60, quarter mile; and all this other jib. finally my car came out and ALL their stories changed. "WOW, its a lincoln! i told you it was a lincoln". at that point i got in my car and pulled it to the side and cleaned it myself. like im gonna let some DUMB ASS kids like that touch my car.
