LS vs ????????????

True. The Jag is definitely classy and not sporty or agressive looking as opposed to the LS. The BMW 3 and 5 series look just like the LS as far as the overall lines.

The jag was the modeled after the continental. look at the trim, side window lines, bumper trim, older models even have the same rear bumper. Only thing noticably different is the front end. It's built on the ford CD 132 platform. unique to the x-type and european Mondeo. derived from CDW27 platform found on the contour, mystique, and cougar. In 2001 ford knew they were ending the continental so they had jaguar make a baby continental.

You know, I think the Coventry apologists are in dire need of an attitude adjustment when it comes to Ford and Lincoln, but saying the designs of the XJ, S-Type, and/or X-Type are based on the Continental is stretching credulity just a bit too far, IMHO. The Jags' designs are based on much earlier Jaguar vehicles, not anything from Lincoln. You may see similarities, but Jag's designers took their cues from Jags from the '50s and '60s, not from anything in Ford's stables.

The X-Type had nothing to do with building a "baby Continental" and everything to do with increasing Coventry's production numbers.

With a CAI and a tune you get over 300 hp which makes it no slouch
in the performance dept.

CAI, not sure what that means, and when you say tune do you mean reprogram the computer or change the plugs lol?

It would be a lot easier to get over 300hp with the 03's on, mine has only 252 hp since it is an '01.

CAI = Cold Air Intake. In this case, "tune" means to reprogram the PCM (or, more accurately, change the PCM's parameters).

I'm pretty sure he's talking about a 2nd Gen LS; the 1st Gens would need an exhaust added to the mix to reach the 2nd Gen stock output, let alone 300hp.
