Hey everyone,
I own a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 that's a constant work in progress. Generally if I'm not driving it, I'm fixing it or upgrading/modifying it. A few weeks ago I autocrossed it and on my last run I found what I guess you could call the limits of adhesion to the front bench seat...coming out of the first slalom I felt like I was going to fall out of the car even with my seatbelt out.
So buckets are no longer a possibility for me, they're a need. Last summer I worked at Manheim Auto Auction and drove everything from a 2.5L VW Rabbit hatch to a 6.0L W12 Bentley Continental GT coupe. With all that seat time I found what I liked and what I didn't. One in particular I really liked were the seats in an LS. They're not as supportive as 3-Series seats or as cushy as the seats in a Jag Vanden Plas but they're lightyears ahead of my Fairlane's stock bench.
Now with all that here are my questions:
1) What kind of adjustments do the seats have. I'm assuming the typical forwards and backwards but what else? Do they have up and down as well? (I know I said I got a lot of seat time at the auction but I didn't get a lot of time to play with the seats...it was get in, move the seat if needed, move the car and get out)
2) While searching the forum, I noticed Gen2 heated AND cooled seats. Can these be operated without the hvac controls? And will the seat coolers work with a non-perforated cloth material?
3) If I get a non-memory seat, can it be converted to memory or would I be better off bashing my head against the wall?
