OK where to begin..I have a 2002 V6 ls the problem is my car serging at idle when im at a stop it will bounce between 600 and 900 rpm and the car has a small vibration while standing still. if i put it in neutral the idle serge will stop.tranny? also from time to time ill be at a red light or stop sign and the car would just shut off. starts right back up with no problem. i didnt have a check engine light until today and when i got it read they said it was my O2 sensors but i kno those wouldnt cause the serges. has anyone ever had any of these issues and if so HELPPP!!!! any advice would be taken.. thank you...

sounds like you have the common PCV hose fault - where is creates a small vacuum leak (which is most noticable at idle) and then you throw a CEL saying you are running lean.

it's a $2 part - but if you are not a DIYer, the shop will charge a bit of labour to dig into it - as youhave to pull the manifold to replace.

Had the same issue on my 00 V6 many moons ago. It was the PCV hose like Quik said.

+2 Definitely the PCV hose. Every 1st Gen V6 does it sooner or later. When mine went it was right around the major service when the PCV valve needed to be replaced anyway. If so with yours you may be able to just have that done and tell the dealership explicitly to replace the PCV valve & the $2 hose. I'm thinking you'll get more for your money instead of paying that diagnostic fee plus the incredible labor amount just for them to replace such a minuscule part.

If you go for it yourself (times are rough now), do yourself a favor and take care of everything you need while you're down there. I.E. spark plugs, coils, gaskets, etc. You'll appreciate the extra effort by not having to go back again for a while.

Good Luck and Hang in there. The LS does okay for the most part but sometimes these little niches get irritating.

thanks alot guys..im going to take next weekend off and try this DIY job.
