I checked on ebay. The value has dropped like 1.5 thousand in a year.

Thats crazy. I bought mine for 10 a year and half ago. Now similar car is for 7500

Depreciation is one of the reasons I bought an LS.
I bought an 04 Sport Ultimate six months ago with 22,000. miles for 18,900.00
New it was over 40k but 3 years later it's value had dropped by over 1/2.
The cars are a great bargain now for what they are.
If my car is worth 8900.00 in 5 years with another 110,000 miles on it that works out to $2,000.00 a year for depreciation.
This is much less than the 6000.00+ a year for the first 3 years.
With the cars getting older prices will continue going lower.
Once they're under 10,000.00 the drop will be less per year.
A car is not an investment, it's an expense.

I just cant wait for the 2nd GENs to drop as significantly, then Im all over em. But for now I still love my 2000. Its the original I guess you can say, of a car that is no longer in production. That makes me happy since I cant afford a nice 06. :D

When i got my 2000 2.5 years ago, i paid 15,000 with 70k( they were in high demand in this part of fl). and now with 106k on it it was worth $5200. so i quickly let go of her when the dealer offered $9700. i didn`t even take anything off of it. rims and everything were left on it.. (except for my speaker box). i used to be afraid to check my trade in value. i think at 106k even the private party value was less then 8k. Its a shame though. I loved that car. the funny thing was that almost all the features that the sales man was trying to wow me with about the 300c wasn't really new to me because it was already on my 2000 ls. :-D. He was pretty surprised that rain sensing wipers and the memory function was available in 2000. i am still happy though. Lost no features but gained some. Still love my Ls though.

you are so right!! I looked up the value of my LS since I will be trading it in a couple of months and it dropped considerably since last month. Might be better off keeping this car and running it into the ground.

Wow!

I paid that much for mine about the same time. Mine was a red tag sale from 19 something down to 16 something. I offered cash and I got a good deal. Offered 14 and with taxes and tags it was about 15 something almost 16. ( we had a accident with our last car , collected and we got a inheritance from a late relative )

The kicker? Mine had 38k or so miles with a 75k warranty!

This is part of the reason why i bought my car. I was looking for something that was really comfortable on the freeway, had decent power, reliability, excelent safety, and got decent gas mileage. After owning a second gen taurus for so many years (before ford started cheaping out on stuff) i was not willing to settle for another base-line sedan after the decreace in interior quality. The lincoln really shines there, and compared to the audi's, saab's, bmw's, and volvo's in a similar price range, the lincoln dominates.

Im glad the prices came down, or else i would never been able to afford such a great car.

I have 05 LS V8, paid 20k in June w/ 22k miles on it. Just found an 04' with only 8k mile for 20k. Trying to get my friend to go look. Wish I could trade, what a difference in mileage and same price with only one year difference.

Yeah no kidding, my '03 last year ran me about 22K and at that time it only had 14,000 miles on it. I see 06's all time time for low 20's loaded.

Padi $34k for mine brand new in December 2002. Now have 88k on it, and plan to keep it at least until Dec 2010 or 150k miles, whichever comes first. Depreciation not a major concern of mine..
