I'm removing the lower control arms on my 95.

I have all nuts removed all bolts removed.

What I can't seem to do is get the arm to drop off.

From where the green arrow is. Do I pound the hell out of it or what.

In Mike's tech article he removes the ball joint itself. I'm not doing that. I'm just replacing the whole control are unit.

I've done this once before and all the old trouble parts came off easy. Damn!:(

Sometimes a slight tap will get them apart, other times...its a battle and a fork works good most times. This is of course since you are replacing the ball joint/control arm, the fork will kill the boot.

That ball joint...

What a coincidence! I just finished changing my LCAs and tension strut bushings a few hours ago. My car's at the shop waiting for an alignment right now!

Anyway, to get the ball joint off, I used one of these:

I got it from AutoZone. It was about $10.

I had to temporarily disconnect my anti-sway bar end-link from the spindle to make room to use it.

They're cool with me. Ya just gotta remember not to buy anything more complicated than an O2 sensor from them.

Rich,
If you get the picle fork in there tight, somtimes you can smack the top of the bolt with a big hammer and it will pop loose. ...............

Maybe your done now ??

I've never had a problem pulling up on the spindle, and cracking the ball joint down. usually seperates quickly.

First off I got them off last night. Then had too much Tequila.

Had to wack them like crazy with the pickle fork and a 5 lb Minni sledge.

Scared Heather like crazy as this was her car.

Had to wait until today to finish as I still needed the bushings that had worn out.

Heather appreciates everyones help... especially the PMs and Phone calls from GMAN, Jibit, and 02L%$%^&%$#(other wise know as Jason)
