Need some help here please.
My neighbor has an o3 LS v6 engine. It had a bad misfire last week, brought it into my shop and diagnosed it as a faulty MAF sensor. It was replaced and the misfire is gone. HOWEVER, the check engine light is back on, fault code indicating bank 2 cataylist efficiency out of range. The biggest issue is that the intake on this car has gotten extreamly loud. It sounds like a pop charger has been installed on the car. I mean really loud. I looked at the intake for him, all seems normal, the MAF sensor is only a small sensor and is in it's place securely. Why has the intake on this vehicle become extreamly loud? Is there some sort of variable valve timing or intake runner system that could be causing this? I have looked over the stock intake, air box, filter and all tubing is perfectly normal with no leaks, holes, ect. Looks completely stock, yet sounds horrably loud.
Any help on what could be causing this would be appreciated.
Also, the car is pinging really bad under heavy load over 3K RPM's.
Never did that before either.
