I am planning on buying a MKV111, and was wondering if anyone can give advice on selecting one and what should I look for, plus how are they in the snow, being from northern ontario, canada what tires are good for them and is it all right to use studs, it is legal here. thanx

Mark VIII specific things? It'll help things greatly if the air ride is in good condition. When driving, listen to hear if it's refilling frequently. Ask the owner if it tends to drop overnight. Touch the air springs, see if the rubber seems like it's in decent condition. Listen to the volume of the air pump after turning on the car.

It's not difficult to fix in your drive-way, but it's not really cheap either.

Drive the car and pay attention to the transmission. Make sure it feels good.

Those are the major two things to watch for. Otherwise, you'll have to look for nagging little electronic accessory issues. The engines in the Mark VIII are excellent and last a long time.

Those are the first things to come to mind.

If you buy one, you WILL be working on it. I have come to peace with that and have come to love the car. Its kinda quick, comfortable, and gets decent gas mileage, great in all worlds.

In '94 they didn't make an LSC model, they were all base models until '95, but the title and registration will say LSC for luxury sport coupe.

LSC model in '95-'98 had less chrome, perforated leather, and a different rear gear ratio.

It sounds like alot for a '94. You could buy that car for that 4 or 5 years ago. I'd talk 'em down or find another.

As far as the body goes check the following:

The bottom inside edge of the doors and the inner seam around the edge of the front hood.... they rust in these areas.

Also check the inner fenders for rust.
