Actually, trick I used to use in other cars I had before, get an old piece of carpeting,
cut it larger then the foot housing and place the rubber winter mats on top of that.
Come spring time, remove the rubber winter mats and toss the old chunk of carpeting
in the trash can and original floor board carpeting from car still good as new. think I
even used some plastic below in between the two.

Also, get in the habit of banging your boots together outside the car as you sit in the seat sideways,
before getting in all the way, get the majority of the snow/slush off the bottom of the shoe-ware.
 
I have them in gray and they are sweet. Thick heavy as hell and cover the entire carpet. If you spill a drink it stays in the diamonds.

I use them year round.
