for my 00' LS V6 3.0L i called every autopart store in the area and it seems that a service manual doesnt exist also maybe you guys would know where to find one, and i also need a timing diagram as i believe the timing is off thanks for your help in advance have a wonderful day :D

How would the timing be off? What symptom are you trying to diagnose? It might be that the coils are going bad.

i bought the car used in not running condition it starts but backfires through the intake and shuts off after 10 seconds, my mechanic says the timing may have jumped from sitting. According to the previous owner it was overheating so he parked it for 3 months im going to pull the engine apart but before i do i wanted a book on it so i know what im doing

Also would it be possible to drop a V8 from a 00' Ls8 inside my 00 v6? because i found one with 60,000 miles for 300$,would i have to change my tranny also? cuz he has the tranny too but its a sport shift and mine is not so? any info would be appreciated :)

Tranny is the same, although I don't know about the flexplate. sport shift and standard shift are same tranny, same ECM load, etc - just two different switches inside the shifter.

Big problem is engine control. It'd be best to pull the ECM with the engine.

it comes with the ECM too, I think i might do it the question is how hard of a job would it be and has it been done before and is there a guide on it? btw thanks oddball for that info

There's a bit more to it than this. The V8 plumbing is different. For example, you need an aux coolant pump to go along with the V8 (V6 doesn't use one). I think you'd also need a different DCCV. The alternator is different too.

You probably also will need a new cluster. The V8 uses one with a message center, the V6 doesn't. I don't know if the V8 PCM would correctly talk to the V6 cluster. Of course, if you change out the cluster, you'll need the message center buttons.

You'll have to tow it to a dealer to marry the new PCM to the cluster just to get it to start. The FEM and the REM will probably have to be reprogrammed too.

so would it be more of a hassle to fix my current v6 or swap the v8 btw the v6 original motor has 150k on it so thats another reason why i was considering it
