I'm not gonna lie, I have a love for the '90s Town Cars. Ever since I first drove one last summer, I have really grown to love the smooooooooooooth as silk ride, very very quiet interior and ample but not overstated power. I test drive one and I wanna test drive more. Thats about the only car I can think of where I do that. (Well atleast the only car I can own) Anyways,

Exterior:

I don't care what the others think, but I really think these 90-97 Town Cars are beautifiul. They have nice flowing, long, elegant lines. They look majestic and they have a presense, but dont look as overly massive as a Fleetwood Brougham. They look much more trim and fit than the Broughams, but that doesnt mean they're "better" looking, the Brougham is a great looking car also, but in a different way. The car has great proportions and the rear deck is finally in good proportion compared to the hood. The rear deck on my deVille is too short IMO, same with the newer deVilles. The one I drove was the Executive Series Jack Nicklaus Edition, which means it is a dark green exterior with a saddle color full vinyl roof, saddle color leather, and gold trim. Very sharp looking car. Sitting behind the wheel, the hood seems massively long and the rear sight lines suck, but oh well. I love the super long hood, its about an inch longer than I am tall If I'm not mistaken. (I stretched my arms out and the hood was a bit longer, and I'm 5'6")

Interior:
The interior is really nice, nicer than my interior, but not as nice as the '98 Continental's. The dash is shallow, which I really like, and its not flat like the 90-94 Town Cars dash.

It had nice seats too, but nothing near as good as the 1990-94 Signature Series seats, but more supportive than my seats. It has the trip computer and digital dash, which I really like. Its finally got somewhat full instrumentation, but it lacks the digital tach and completely full instrumentation of the 94-99 deVilles. Anyways, it had more rear legroom than my car, but not as much front legroom due to the tranny hump and different firewall. I really like the control layout on the dash and door panels, plus they have individual glove compartments in the front doors.
But I didnt like how the Executive Series cannot have heated seats and it doesnt have the front storage armrests, but it does have cupholders in the dash that slides out.

Driving Impressions:
Town Cars are known for their incredibly smooth ride, and this was no exception. Potholes are hushed, as is most everything else on this car. Its noticeably quietier than my deVille when just cruising, but the engine is almost as noticeable as my deVilles. Speaking of engine, Lincoln quoted this as having a 9.3 second 0-60, and that sounds a little conservative, but close. Its got about 90% of the 4.9's power. Not as much low end, but more mid range power, thats probably due to the SOHC design. I will say that its got noticeably more low end power than that '99 Concours I drove two weeks ago, but thats really about it. The N* would blow the SOHC 4.6 out of the water! The Northstar deVille's 0-60 is about two seconds less! As long as were talking about performance, the car doesnt handle as bad as I had predicted. I took it down my favorite curvy road, and it took it as good as my deVille. Even on the firmest setting, the steering feels like my deVilles. I didnt even wanna try that road on its lightest setting! I'd go off the road! I really did like the adjustable steering.

Verdict:

Highs:
-Super smooth
-Reliable
-lots of them around
-parts are cheap
-4.6 is Ford Generic
-great looking
-very large interior
-very quiet interior
- not a lot of gadgets to go bad

Lows:
-not super quick
-not the best handler
-not very rare
-not very special like FWB
-not a lot of gadgets

I agree the 90-97 Town Cars are the best. I had a 1993 Conti Sig Series, and wrecked it. So I bought a 1993 Town Car Executive Congressional Series and it was a huge upgrade. Better handling, and the air suspension is more reliable.

Isnt the Jack Nicklaus edition just a fancier executive series? With the same seats and such.

The earlier Jacks all had this - are you sure yours is correct? I've not heard of one with a Saddle Interior....

1. Green....I mean GREEN metallic paint.
2. White leather with gold thread and trim accents
3. Dash plate (golden bear)
4. Special golden bear floormats
5. Special golden bear side trim plate

Did it have these things? Here's a pic of the genny article, but It's an early one....

I'm positive it was a Jack Nicklaus Edition. It was that real dark green color with a tan top and tan leather, and it had the Jack Nicklaus logo "the bear" on the C Pillar.

95LTC, Yes, its just basically a glorfied Signature Series.

The Wiseguy, I'm really surprised to hear that your '93 Executive Series handles better than the smaller FWD Continental. But then again, the '97 Executive Series pulled a skidpad rating of .79G and a 1992 Deville Touring Sedan pulled a .74G. Wierd, I could swear that my '92 SDV handles better than the Town Cars...

I really like the '97 Jack Nicklaus edition, but I would love to get a '95-97 Signature that is fully loaded with the leather, heated seats, sunroof, Electronic Traction Assist, JBL stereo, electrochromic mirrors and more...

Eh well probably because one of my front air bags was messed up so, that's probably why my TC handles better than my conti did.:D
