Long Drive, any recommendations?

good idea on the pistol, I have my ND Concealed Carry permit, but I don't want to go through the hassle of airport security, and then every states different laws.

Have the current owner go to a local shop and change out
1. oil and filter
2. coolant flush
3. new air, fuel filter
4. check trans fluid, tires, brakes, suspension parts for any wear.
5. Check belts, hoses, wipers

you can flip the bill for this and pay him when you get there. That way you know you have fresh fluids and filters in the car and proper tire pressure.

You should be fine...

when I flew to Houston from Chicago I had the owner do exactly what I stated above as well as put in 2 quart of oil and a gallon of coolant in the trunk. I payed for the service... made the drive back with all new fluids and extras just in case I poped a leak somewhere.

i actually wouldn't change a bunch of stuff because everything you do adds to the potential for something to go wrong.

You can have a pistol in your checked baggage. Thats what I did when I flew to WV to drive the family out to CA. You just cant have any ammo, but there are walmarts all over the place in FL ;)

+1
I would peform any maintenence you want to happen yourself.
rather than having to worry about what some "walmart" tech did to your car.

I don't trust walmart or any other place to change my oil or do things I can do myself and know they are done right.

I put my spider valve V3 on my car the night before I left for Texas... in retrospect not the best idea ever... but I made it ok.

I am sad to say it, but the drive has been canceled. I am having the car shipped instead. It will take me longer to get it, but I had some stuff come up that I am unable to leave.

We have been taking care of my grandpa at our house, who is terminally ill. And just this week, my grandma fell and broke her femur in 4 places. She is recovering fine, but I am just not able to take a trip right now.

I am disappointed, but sometimes extenuating circumstances take place. :( Dang, I want to drive my car. :)

Thanks for the info and help everyone, I will let you know when I actually get it. The transport companies are slow in picking up vehicles to our area (middle of nowhere)

I would like to see if this is the Mark I was looking at in Florida.

Got another call this morning from the carrier and they said the driver will be here this afternoon. He has one other delivery in a town about 30 miles south of here, and then he will give me a call.

:D
