No, that is a classic sign of spyware on your computer. I had a nasty trojan that did the same thing awhile back. It somehow hijacked the ads on the thread. It was called Virtumonde, or Vundo, I work as an IT Tech and I must say that if this is what you have, you're better off just to have the computer wiped and reloaded.

Download VundoFix and run it, if it finds it, you might be screwed. There are all kinds of removal instructions on the internet on how to get rid of it but I spent probably 4 hours fighting it myself and decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

Not so sure about google ads but a lot of trojan downloaders display popups based on what you look at online, for example someone like us would get ford popups (which I get a lot of, lincolns as well, on other sites that have google ads)

Being a tech as well, trojans SUCK! This week we have 3 computers with the same trojan; trojan-downloader.zlob. Manually finding it is terrible.

I don't get pop-ups at all. The Google ads are displayed on the forums pages. If you right click and "view source", you'll see that in the HTML.
